    Had a a ROM sitting around in a ready to build state so I went ahead and tested with the byte at offset 0x20 set to 0x00. The screen was just black. It ran, but there was nothing visible.     Ouch literally the worst feeling. Had that happen to me, but I keep anything I can't live without backed up with Google Drive. You get 15 Gigs for free so keeping NAND backups shouldn't be a problem. Just don't use the sharing as they will take down copyrighted content.
