    There are Programms which depend on the FIRM, for example Decrypt9 requires 9.0-9.2 FIRM, other than than newer games run only on 9.6+ FIRM

    The size is 256bytes, which Windows shows as 1kb. Look in details and you should see 256bytes. And no, you CAN NOT use a prebuild of arm9loaderhax, as it needs your otp to compile and then it only works on YOUR console. Grabing a arm9loaderhax.3dsx from the internet will brick your console

    Is it required to update to 4.5 (or whatever fw) after otp dump, re-gaining *hax and updating to 9.2? Wouldn't it be sufficient downgrading -> dump otp -> restore sysNAND with hardmod ? Just asking because some guides are doing it the first way.

    Maybe your emunand uses the 9.6 firm on old 3ds which doesnt allow recent games? You could try to use the reiNAND mod which uses the 10.4 Firm on o3ds (if I'm not mistakten) or CakesFW. Could be worth a try

    I was able to downgrade my new 3DS Xl (blue) from 10.3 E to 9.2 E using "the zip" with 102 files. I verified md5 and copied with teracopy with verification. The sysupdater from julian20 with libkhax worked first try, the other one with libSU stopped at #5 every time I tried (4 times only lol)...
