    I'd assumed you had a CPE as the symptoms you described before were exactly what I am getting with my CPE. You seem to be the only one who's had any real problems with a CP2, which is unlucky, but as the problem is so similar is there more to it?

    FWIW I tried Castlevania PoR and DoS, on the CP2s: both games and intros worked perfectly except for DoS intro which was very choppy. On the CPE: PoR intro fine but game play sound corrupted, just a really irritating weird static noise going on, it worked for 5 mins but couldn't stand the noise...

    My original CP2s are black English models bought in December 07 from a UK supplier who has a very fast turnover of stock, so they are only a couple of months old. You could have a point that very latest batches are marked so the language version can be identified easily.

    So was it the SD card causing the problems or the CPE M3? I would have blamed the SD card if I hadn't had the CP2 to test it with.

    Sounds like your M3's a good 'un, for me they fail to load 80-90% of the time, 10% they'll start then crash when you begin game play and just occasionally they''ll run up to half an hour before crashing, but crash they always will.

    Just cooked a pizza with the problem card! Cooking Mama 2 is one of the few mid-sized roms that doesn't seem to problematic. And it's always worked perfectly with the older cards... I'm just getting more confused now! What roms have you had running without problems?
