    So I'm trying to hack SoJ, and I figured I'd ask a question here seeing as the games likely have similar formats. There are arc files in the game but I can't seem to find anything to open 3DS versions of the format. Is DGS using the same format, and if so what is the team using to extract them?

    There is a QuickBMS script for JARC. I tried searching and replacing every instance of Kamehame in the msg.jmsg and loading it up and the move name did not change, though I guess it could have changed elsewhere.

    Are the .bl files not some kind of list of other files found in the .jarcs? They seem to be nothing other than file names and then 00s and FFs. I thought I found unicode text inside pac/system.jarc/message/msg.jmsg but even if it is I don't know where it'd be for. Have no idea what I'm doing really.

    It was the CPK, I was using some things called crifilesystem (said the file was an invalid format) and cripaktools (crashed entirely). But QuickBMS has done the trick.

    CIA, also tried dumping the cxi from braindump and getting the romfs from that. But I will try opening it with QuickBMS before anything else.

    You successfully extracted? I've dumped the romfs twice and tried two different tools but they keep reporting errors saying the file is invalid.

    I've fixed this now, and in appreciation to those who tried to help, I'll post how: Simply ran Luma Updater. Obviously I'd installed something incorrectly, I just ran the update on the current version and I got into the GBA games immediately afterwards.

    As I said, I've not done that. I might install the CIA anyway just to be sure, but I can't think of any good reason I would have the patch on my system.
