PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Thank you, I will order some AON6414A mosfets and report back. In my case the mosfet controller is marked 2383736B0, is the TPS53219A equivalent? I can't find anything with these markings

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

I can't really say if the 5V is stable, what I measured yesterday (3.9V) I think was due to the fact that the board was still hot. In fact, I tried to measure the 5V today and I got 5.2V at every point, with and without the 10K resistor. I tried to apply some heat to the whole board and also to...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

After swapping the two chips, I measured resistance, voltages, and diode values, but honestly, none of it makes much sense to me. Here are the values: regulator Next to F7002 (previously next to RT5126) Resistances: 1. 163k 2. 45k 3. gnd 4. 190k 5. gnd 6. 165k 7. 1M 8. 50k Diode mode values...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

This doesn’t make much sense to me either. I desoldered the TPS62823 chip from the wifi power rail and swapped it with the one located next to the RT5126. Unfortunately, the voltages remain unchanged, still no output on pin 8. Maybe both regulators are faulty? I measured 300+ Kohms ramping up..

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Thanks for the info, in fact with the battery installed I measure its voltage. Yes, you are right, many of the pads have the solder mask coming off. I did another reball this morning and I've recorded the whole process, you can see it here if you want to roast me :rofl2:. The image quality is...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Thanks a lot for pointing out the resistor placement. Based on its position, it turns out my board is meant for a 69GG southbridge, so that clears up a big part of the mystery. That means the two 069GG chips I’ve installed are either both faulty, or I made a mistake during soldering. I recently...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Yeah, that could definitely explain some of the compatibility issues. In my case, I only have two 069GG chips, which should work natively on the EDM-033 without any mod, but the board still doesn't power on. So either both chips are bad, I messed up the soldering, or maybe my board was...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Thank you so much for the detailed info. 1.I didn't find any shorts around the SB 2. I'm starting to doubt that the original SB was a 61GG. On another forum they sent me a pic of a EDM-031 back side of the SB and it seems to be the same of the one I have, but I'm not yet sure that's the only way...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

I'm not sure about the SB model that originally came with the board, it has been desoldered already when I receive the PS5. Before ordering the 69GG I've looked around to various forums and I've found also a video that showed the SB model based on some resistors position on the opposite side. I...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Ok thanks for the advice, even if i didn't use much flux to solder the SB, I've just spreaded a tiny layer on the pads. I will try to spray some ipa and push out any residual flux. Does the SB has 2 oscillators? I see one right next to the SB and the other on the other side of the board. So...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Thanks for the correction! So the pins that should have 3.3V output are 25-26, 1.8V on pin 6. It's exaclty 0.0A, even if i switch the scale to mA, I can't see any current drawn. I will try again later to see if maybe there is a quick jump to any mA.

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Hello! I'm a bit hesitant to try UART analysis, as far as I know, it only works if the southbridge is already powered and functional. Since in this case there's no standby voltages to the southbridge, I assumed the UART reading wouldn't output anything so I haven't considered it yet. But I might...

PS5 EDM-033 No Power – Issue After Southbridge and PMIC Replacement

Hi everyone, I'm working on a PS5 motherboard, model EDM-033, that has a no power issue. Originally, the board was missing both the southbridge and the Panasonic MN864739 HDMI encoder. I found a short to ground on the 5V line. After some investigation (injecting voltage on the shorted line), I...
