Yep, but you could technically put some mask on it that cures with UV and its permanent. That would come with a MASSIVE disclaimer though. Many folks will disable the fix afterwards to prevent people from using it.

iPhones often flex enough for a very small pad on the board to rip from it's lead which causes the phone to fail. If you cant reattach the lead then dead bug soldering can make it work again by using the location that the ripped lead went to begin with.

We do it in the cell phone repair industry a lot due to torn leads on the board. The chip on it's back kinda looks like a dead bug :rofl2:

Defintely looks easier to dead bug solder that way.

I believe these are part of the decoupling caps based on the schematics for that device. It should work fine without them, they just smooth the power going into the power supply from the USB port and would only be used during flashing. The board will derive power from the switch afterward.

Hey guys I ran into a parts issue with the NP2016 when having my boards manufactured and spent a bit of time filtering results to find a comparable MOSFET. I ran across the Huashuo HSCB2016. It appears to be a clone of the NP2016, and they are available through Aliexpress, eBay, and LCSC. I...

Awesome, I will check that out for version 0.1 of my new board.

Am I reading correctly that this is an alternative solder point for 3.3v?

Thank you, I have been teaching myself electrical engineering and this seemed like a fun thing to work on. I don't intend on selling them due to the legal issues that other modchip makers have experienced. I will likely open source it once I get my hands on the test units to verify it functions...

That is correct. I only have a Lite and I had to do a ton of measuring to get this thing to line up. I wouldn't mind adapting it but I would have a hard time without a physical unit to measure.

Not sure if anyone else has produced a design that is quick to solder on and nests inside the switch easier yet. I just finished this one today and it is intended to be a flexible PCB. It is just a prototype and will need some adjustments I'm sure, but I mapped the GPIOs the same as the original...
