    Do you hear any audio? The orange light (the one of the WiFi) turns on? If not it could be the WiFi module. As far as I know, the console doesn't boot without it.

    Popping sound means that one of the two screen backlight is not connected. The connector which handles backlight in top screen and sound it's the black one with the white clip, the other one handles data. To test if it's the top or bottom screen, solder two resistor to create a Gameboy Macro...

    That's not a resistor, that's a capacitor. It's a 0201 capacitor, I don't have the value right now, my multimeter doesn't read it. I'll test with better accuracy in the next days, I'll update my post if I have news, I'm trying to reverse engineer the N3DS XL power circuit too *** UPDATE ***...
