    Any time I'm setting up a new device for a family member, I always use it if they insist on keeping OEM Android. I have my own issues with both Graphene and Fairphone. It'd be nice if communities like that didn't always find themselves ridden with controversy.

    Yes, actually. Best recommendation there is. If you don't want to go through the trouble, at least use ADB on your phone to remove packages you don't need or want. Or another alternative, more accessible custom Android version based on the AOSP.
