    Your file has a .wia extension but isn't an actual wii iso archive. (Maybe you could use hexdump or a hex editor to view the header and figure out, it should start with 0x57 0x49 0x41 or WIA if it was an actual .wia) You can reproduce that error by creating an invalid blank .wia file like this...

    Well crc32 and md5 are both used in the case of file corruption, not tampering. It should be fine for a plain integrity check. (A basic crc32 + file size check) You don't need a sha512sum since the purpose is to mitigate user errors. (From downloading a corrupted/shrinked file mostly)

    Go with Dop-Mii then. Download it here then unpack the zip file and put the boot.dol file at the root of your SD(HC) card and install the boot.dol from the preloader menu. Use the non-wiibrew edition, since you need a bugged IOS (It was IOS36 back then) since you don't have AHBPROT access.

    What channels did you install with pimpmywii/brickmywii? That really sounds like a banner brick and you'll have to remove the faulty channel titles. Reinstalling the System Menu will just delete preloader and you will be screwed.

    The only issue I had with Skyward Sword was when enabling savegame nand emulation inside the Usb loader. (After a short while the Wii resets, Metroid Prime Trilogy does it too) Interestingly enough it works fine on the real nand or a neek2o nand.

    If you want to test custom themes without any risks you should set and use a NEEK emulated nand. From it you can replace the isfs://title/00000001/00000002/content/000000XX.app file on the fly. XX: 97 = USA; 94 = Japan; 9a = Europe. (System menu 4.3)

    I was mosly rambling... I wanted you to load priiloader from preloader but that probably won't even work. You should try to install the latest unmodified version of IOS58 because a lot of newer homebrews use it and disable AHBPROT.

    Do you use FAT32, NTFS or EXT4 for your game partition? Sometimes splitting a game into two for a FAT32 partition cause issues. But it's probably a drive or a cios issue if your image file isn't corrupted.

    I don't think you can consider virtualization an emulator if your target guess OS's architecture is the same than your host's architecture. For example if you try to launch the amd64 Debian live iso from an amd64 version of Ubuntu with qemu.

    He should probably try to install priiloader then get HBC working before even trying to install a system menu wad file. (Having an unmodified IOS58 would help too) I wonder... Can you load priiloader.dol (The actual priiloader dol file, not the installer) from preloader? That would be funny.
