Homebrew Sprites not coming out right

The original image was 8x8, so I assumed I could just convert to .bmp and put it through Grit.

Homebrew Sprites not coming out right

I took a look at a couple of the provided examples. They all used .img and .pal files, but I had a though about formatting. I put the sprite through the Convert_bitmap8.bat. It works! God I need a duck.

I guess that's my first issue. I'm using the grit that comes with Night Fox. I put a .bmp into the BMP folder and run Convert_Sprite_autopal.bat. It spits out an .img and .pal file.
