Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

And the folder named exact "linux" and it sits right next to the shofel2 folder? I am asking because the loader config files are looking for those exact. If you notice the git clone commands on the OP, some of them need to have the local folder names different from the repo names. Alternatively...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Have you built the kernel i.e. the linux folder? The message clearly said that it couldn't find the kernel. You could avoid this hassle by using the prebuilt kernel. Just search for shofel2_linux in this thread.

That was user fault when manually build the kernel. When you download the brcm...-pcie.txt from the direct link i.e. from the OP, it downloads the txt file BUT the content, on my case, is base64 encoded. So that was why my wifi wasnt working. I would suggest you go check that file on your build...

So it has made it there @Gigaa @kombos https://github.com/fail0verflow/switch-linux/pull/5

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

@kombos, please refer to this. Basically, according to the author, Switch bus bug so it cannot read high speed cards so he had to reduce the speed cap on these. I have a 128GB Samsung and a couple other users in this thread also encounter the same issue - Linux boot time takes ages and hang at...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Thanks, that the prebuilt binary everyone is using. I guess I haven't made myself clear. I would like to know the source of the wifi fix too, if possible. Because I just want to get over the Samsung card fix too. Anyway, no big deal, so far only 3 people having the Samsung's. So no hard feeling...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

You wont get wifi with the original f0f no matter how many time you reboot. So thats it the fix - to have wifi.

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Yes, agreed but I am not sure about the life circle of the PRs on f0f's, could take weeks to get this merged, maybe? While I just need to apply the dirty patch for the Samsung cards to work. At least 3 people on this thread are having troubles with Samsung's. Obviously I would need to have the...

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

Did you compile the original on f0f Github? That will not work as Wifi only added to SoulCipher/kombos prebuilt binary, in short we dont have the source of the Wifi kernel to build it ourselves at the moment... Everyone, please correct if I am wrong?

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

It's all about card class I guess. Mine is Samsung EVO+ 128GB which is rated as UHS-1. Btw, I have applied the mentioned fix and now it's working with my same Samsung card https://github.com/perillamint/switch-linux/commit/ec2c0a0bbc388622e35aaa5f5038f6d899fcbbee Yeah as the comment, this is a...

Makes sense as high capa cards also higher speed. I think I still have the kernel source, will try the patch and report later.

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

I had same issue with 128GB SDXC card, thing stucks at random: crng Swap to a 32GB and all works again. SoulCipher had it work on a 64GB SDXC - if you check his NAND backup thread. So I highly suspect that a bigger SD card >64GB wont work yet. Cheers

Are you on native Ubuntu now? As I mentioned it never work for me on native OSX or VM.

Tutorial How to boot Linux on your Switch

You just need to follow the OP, its very detailed so read EVERY word there. You can skip the build part which is the most time consuming by just clone SoulCipher repo. https://github.com/SoulCipher/shofel2_linux BUT you still need all dependencies and GCC cross compilers installed as top part of...
