Hacking Any way to force wii to display 720p?

As far as I know the Wii is only capable of outputting 480i, 576i and 480p. Even if you were somehow able to get it to output 720p (which I doubt is possible), the GPU would be too slow to handle that res.

    Hacking SNEEK+DI quick guide

It's a fixed length field by the look of it, if you use a text editor you'll change the length and screw things up. Use a hex editor or something like that that will let you overwrite it without changing the length.

Hardware Help for Wii on LCD Monitor

It works well, although it doesn't support my monitor's native resolution (1920x1080). Running it at a lower resolution and letting the monitor upscale doesn't show any noticeable scaling artefacts. Haven't noticed the sound being in mono and I'd be surprised if it was but then again I wasn't...

Hardware Help for Wii on LCD Monitor

The video quality should be identical. The Wii doesn't have native VGA output unlike the Dreamcast, the Xbox or the Xbox 360. The VGA cables for the Wii connect the component output pins on the AV port to the component input pins on a component-VGA converter chip; I assume the chip is powered...

    Hardware Wii Key V1

Most likely a soldering issue - one of the wires has come loose (the power or the ground, maybe? You could re-solder just those if you didn't want to start from scratch.)

Hardware Help for Wii on LCD Monitor

Your setup should work. I've got something similar with a "High-Box". There's no difference between the single Wii VGA cable and a component cable + a converter box if you're only using it for your Wii. The Wii VGA cable is internally a component cable connected to a converter chip anyway. The...

    Hardware Pre-owned wii problems

You could always try a Wii cleaning kit. It's a Nintendo thing, should be about ten bucks in any store like GameStop.

Hacking SD Card won't load roms in emulator, but does everything else

SD cards of 4GB and larger are SDHC cards. A more up-to-date version of your emulator should be compatible with your SDHC card.

    Hacking 4.3 hackable?

resincake: you can run homebrew code using Smash Stack or Indiana Pwns but you can't install the homebrew channel or install custom IOS yet.

Hacking Are the brand new Wii's moddable?

You won't see systems with 4.3 in retail stores for at least a month or two. Nintendo pushes the updates to the update servers, and then at some stage after that the factory image is updated, and then those Wiis have to make their way to retail shelves.

Hacking Is it possible to identify NAND backups

I think the NAND is encrypted with the per-console key, which would explain why you couldn't find anything with a hex editor. Surely there's some sort of tool out there for decrypting a NAND dump and extracting files from it...

Hardware Wii DVD drive not spinning

Do you have a modchip installed? If so, some of the wires may have come loose and need to be soldered again. Even if you don't, it'd be worth checking that the DVD drive power cable and ribbon cable are connected properly since they might've come loose while your Wii was in the post, or if the...

Hacking What type of brick is this??

Someone could've pulled a returns switcheroo. Buy a new one, put the old one in the new box, return it for your money back...but the next person to buy it gets screwed. Edit: What are the letters at the beginning of the serial number at least? If they're LKM, it's a Korean Wii. I think a NZ...

Hacking What type of brick is this??

That sounds awfully like a standard Error 003 brick to me, which means it's a Korean Wii that has had its region changed. That results in a brick when you upgrade to 4.2. I don't think there's any known fix once it's bricked.
