Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

If it's the OG XB1 and not the S or X, it's because a hexbit is flipped to intentionally make it it not recognized in Windows. The only thing you should be doing in Windows on an OG XB1 is imaging the partitions with DISM... everything else should be done via Linux with Juvenal1's python...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Disk 0 will always be one of the main PC HDDs, and will normally be the one Windows is installed to, hence why you're getting C: was found First thing I'd recommend doing is running a S.M.A.R.T short and long test, which will need to be performed either on a Linux PC, using a live boot CD (such...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

I wasn't speaking about this thread's method for the S or X, but about the older method from Juvenal1. The method in this thread works for the S and X No, I was stating PowerShell should not be utilized for running these scripts, unless the author states/shows somewhere that they ran they...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Are those who experiencing problems running the batch script in a command terminal or a powershell terminal? @timmypop, you're utilizing a powershell terminal, which is Windows 10 default, and without going through the batch script line by line to know for sure, I would recommend not running...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Yes. 3.5" Drives utilize 12v @ ~2A, whereas 2.5" drives utilize 5v @ 1A (the MB only output 5v @ 1A). Even if you did externally power it, it will not be able to be cooled properly if installed in the XB1 housing. If you're planning on an external casing and running an eSATA to SATA cable to...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Yeah, that doesn't work, and I'm not 100% on why, but it definitely has to do with a mismatch of the A & B folders & NAND flash or the disk & partition GUIDs. The OP isn't misleading anyone, as Microsoft confirms you should be able to do the exact same process as could be done on the original...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

It's likely the A & B folders are the issue, as I had similar issues. Unfortunately, until someone figures out how garnish readable data from the NAND flash, getting the A & B folders right will always be trial and error. Provided you have the old drive that was in the Xbox, ensure A & B have...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

As I stated, watch the OP's Youtube videos... I cannot walk you through this step by step. What you will need to do is try different combinations of the A & B folders, and once the right combination occurs, the OS rebuild will occur. As I said, it's trial and error. I did forget to mention...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

You'll get it to work eventually, as you just have to find the correct combination of files in the A & B folders, along with the correct updater vhd in the root of System Update. I do highly recommend watching the YouTube videos of the OP, as he does show how to rebuild without a working drive...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

The system is booting from NAND.... WinRE and the EFI boot files, among other things, are contained on the NAND flash. Yes, and like I said, this will be a process of trial and error and it will eventually work, but patience is a must =]

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

Why would you try it in a 360... of course that wouldn't work, as the 360 use a FAT32 fs. On top of that, you can't just plop an HDD into a 360, as you must re-write the drive identification since the 360 was locked to specific HDD models You're gonna need to follow the steps under the bullet...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

That's because the issue is not your ODD, but the A & B folders on the System Update partition... it wouldn't matter if you swapped the HDD into another X or S (OG XB1 will likely not work, as the vhd's are different due to the different hardware and drivers.. it's not like swapping between PCs)...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

ODD can simply be disconnected... it doesn't have to be connected for the rebuild of the OS.

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

I would never have thought of that =] Then the only thing I'd recommend is buying some rubber squares (can be found at hardware stores, walmart, etc. in a multi-pack with 4" X 4" pieces of rubbr), cutting four 1/2" X 1/2" squares out, and using each in between the casing and HDD. As far as...

Tutorial Xbox One Internal Hard Drive Upgrade or Repair: Build any size drive that works on any console

I personally wouldn't install that, as if it did fit (which is unlikely), it would literally be pressed up against the BD drive. This would eventually cause the drive to fail prematurely due to being unable to dissipate heat properly from the top side of the drive. Even more problematic, is...
