    DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK ! Only tested on custom firmware you need the last custom firmware you had on a usb stick, first off turn off your ps3 then take out the internal hdd from your ps3 then turn on your ps3 without your internal hdd you will get the no applicable update data found error, now...

    I have done a fix before by a fluke without any hardware or software fixes but i am going to stay quiet until i have fully tested it again.

    try taking the power cord out and reataching it while holding eject.

    do you want to continue ? this fix will put your ps3 into a state that you need the right firmware to update and succeed though meaning you will have to try updating with all firmwares until you get the right one then you will have success in updating

    might still work but as i said we might need the exact firmware we could narrow it down by the year it got the red screen of death and look at firmware release charts could you do that ?
