    seems to be solved now!! Used a sandisk 2 gb micro sd in a sandisk adapter - no joy Used a 4gb micro sdhc in the same adapter and all worked fine. I wonder if there are compatibility issues with Black Wii's and SD's??

    yes it was used b4 it's a 2gb kingston micro sd in an adapter used it on white wii with no probs gonna try a sandisk 4gb sdhc micro now will report back. dont have any full sized sd's never needed em b4 thanks

    I'm unsure about bootmii as IOS I reckon if u install preloader then if anything went wrong you could load bootmii from that, I would set preloader to never start up unless forced my questions are what does preloader do when a new disc is inserted (with any updates) and is preloader ok on 4.2

    Yes that happens alot, I find if something doesn't work, go back to the beginning of that section and simply start again, if you think logically how the guide is set out you cant mess it up, and it does say don't worry about the odd glitches and stack dumps, I ve done about 6 wiis with this...
