You're not alone, I too don't understand this logic. "Budget-friendly" VR would be around the $99 mark if it ever wants to be taken seriously. It's a headset, not a GPU doing the rendering... It shouldn't cost the same price as a PS5 or more.

You'll always be paying more for the most "next-generation" hardware, so if you already have a decent headset, probably best to wait for sales and/or price drops.
holy shit, i'm so happy with my oculus quest 2 for $150 usd on sale. steam link + unreal vr mod = mind blowing.
i'm living dragonball z and robocop these days (need anti-nausea meds though).
And it's silly pricing like this that will forever keep VR unattainable to people like me. It's not like they're doing the graphical processing in the headset, so why haven't prices come down to affordable levels yet? If they would, VR would see...
