Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Hi @caki883! So, considering the image mentioned before, if you mean the bigger cap in the red circle, then yes, this is probably the correct capacitor. I would try to use a X7R just to be safe, but the size and value are correct.

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Hi @nerirififi! Welcome to this godforsaken post! ^^ So, yeah, the bigger one circled in red in the image below is a 0402 capacitor with 4.7µF. Don't know about the voltage though but, been a capacitor attached to the VDD in a microSD card, it seems more likely to be 10V. Hope it helps!

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Hi @hiju123 So, if it is heating up, it could be a defective component. Not necessarily the component itself, but a component around it (e.g. like a CI). Don't know if I can help you with more than just that, though. Apparently we are both with expensive paper weights for now :(

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

About the voltage, I wouldn't know but maybe you could get these values from a microSD datasheet since these capacitors are in the vdd port for the microSD. About the other question, some say that it should work and removing the components would only make the circuit more susceptible to failure...

Hardware Help on identifying components and their values close to SD card reader on Nintendo Switch Lite mobo

Just as the title says. The components I am looking for are those in the image below: Things to consider: - below these components are two decoupling capacitors - the bigger capacitor is a 0402 ceramic capacitor with 4.7uF, so the rest of the components must be 0201 - don't know which pair...

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Haha, I know the feeling, man. I think that one is a 0201 with the same 4.7uF if you ever decide to try and fix it.

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

@hiju123 To be more precise, these are the components missing. I don't even know if they are actually capacitors. Could you help me identifying them?

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Hi @hiju123, welcome to this godforsaken post, haha! Long story short: I will not be able to give you an answer yet. Sorry. I'm in my own dilemma here because, in my case, I have three capacitors missing. I have realized too, by trial and error, that the correct size for the bigger cap was...

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

Just an update. The bigger capacitor is not 0805, it is smaller. Comparing both it looked like it should be a 0504 or 0402. Didn't find anything with the same value of Farad for 0504, so I'm gonna try my luck with the 0402. I will post any update here when I manage to do that.

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

@Newtman Can you do me a favor? Are you able to measure the two capacitors on the upper part of the image? The blue and the grey one. Just realize now that those two are missing on my board. I manage to measure the bigger one. It's value is 4.7μF. Don't know the specifics (if it needs to be 10V...

Hacking Question Switch lite, dead capacitor of MicroSD

For what I could gather, these are decoupling capacitors for the SD card reader. Maybe there is some way we could figure these values out.

    Someone knows these values?
