Sega Neptune - Building a Sega Neptune

I completed the board and it doesn't output anything. TV doesn't even pick up a signal. There are components I missed because I have no idea what if any I put there. They are marked with an asterisk. Anyone have a clue what goes there? **EDIT** A person that goes by the name RGBeter...

Sega Neptune - Building a Sega Neptune

Is there a board viewer for the Cosam neptune board? I'm not getting 5V or 3.3V and I can't figure out why? The buck converter is putting out 1v or 0.8V depending on where I test it.

Getting close but I'm stuck again. What do I put where it says VA1? I do have a VA1 32X but I don't know if I should put a 47pF, 100pF, or leave it unused? 1774678320 I think it's 100pf. Found the answer here.

I need help identifying a part I need. D801 says I need a 2A RECT D_SOD-128. I'm assuming it needs to be a 2 amp rectifier size SOD-128, but is it a diode rectifier and if so which way does it get installed?

Sega Neptune - Building a Sega Neptune

Got the easy part done. All the major chips are on the Neptune board. I'm at the hard part where I need to source all the surface mount devices that need to be placed on the board. Before I go hunting on Digikey and AliExpress for parts, is there anything else I can salvage from the Genesis...

Sega Neptune - Building a Sega Neptune

I got the boards as in 5 of them. No components, which I may regret. They have a nice interactive diagram that shows which components go where. I wonder if I can get most of this off the Sega Model 2 board? Found a photo of what it should look like. Like, 48X 100nf capacitors? At least...

I'll post here when I do. I wonder how good I am at Fusion 360 to make that Neptune case?

That's why I wanted to do it. For the awesome looking shell. Doom Resurrection is also pretty cool. I'm also hoping to put in an HDMI connector as well. Haven't really looked into it.

That explains why I can't find the stl. It doesn't exist. Guess I'll use the Genesis Model 2 shell. I did order the board from JLCPCB but without components. Not sure what I'd be missing without it being populated?

Sega Neptune - Building a Sega Neptune

I wanna make a Neptune using this PCB design and want to know if someone can share the Neptune shell 3D print files? I want to print the shell myself.

The future of Switch 2? Success or failure?

Steam isn't really a monopoly because you do have other stores. The problem is other stores suck. Valve doesn't need the Steam Deck to sell successfully to get 3rd party developers on board to making games work on it. Switch 2 on the other hand does need to sell well. This is why I'm baffled...

The future of Switch 2? Success or failure?

Linus from LTT built a couple of PS5 Pro killers about 9 months ago. Times have changed and PC parts are actually cheaper. The PS5 Pro is now $750, which means I have more room to work with. This setup has the new 9060 XT with 16GB of VRAM with an eight core although two generations behind...

The future of Switch 2? Success or failure?

But... I just did. If you watched the Digital Foundry video, you can see that pretty much any $250 - $350 GPU can out perform a PS5, including PS5 Pro. Also, the price of PS5's just went up, which makes building a PC even more compelling. The main thing is that the CPU generally doesn't...

The future of Switch 2? Success or failure?

It won't stay at 4 games. As it stands, any budget GPU around $250 will outperform a PS5. It doesn't. It's all the same shit. Complaining about upscaling when it's literally everywhere now. If you're about the purity of the game then I can see why modding may not be your thing. It's rare...

The future of Switch 2? Success or failure?

Traditionally, yes they do. Mainly because DLSS/FSR/XeSS will reduce the resolution and then upscale it with "AI" improvements to improve performance. With emulated games like TOTK, the upscaling improves image quality because we're taking the default Switch resolution and going even further...
