Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Well it's not that so much, really. I got a steam deck when they came out so I have mostly just been using that since then. What really prompted me to pull out the switch is that my daughter is getting a little older and so I thought I'd play some of the simpler games with her now and then, and...

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Hello all! It's been a while since I've done an update and with the switch 2 on the horizon I'd like to get my switch 1 up to date as I'll likely never want or need to do it again in the future. I am just wondering, now that there is a new (well probably not that new) tool called sys-patch...

It happens when loading emuMMC. I understand that it is supposed to happen because the game cartridge slot had an update somewhere between 11.0.1 and 13.0, and atmosphere automatically blocks the game cartridge from being updated in order to not burn any fuses. I am just wondering if there is a...

Hey all, I just recently updated Atmosphere to 1.1.1 and my emunand to software 13.0. When I start up now I get an error saying that my game cartridge slot cannot be read from. From what I understand this is because my emunand version is 13.0 but my stock system software is still on 11.0.1. In...

I have been using ns-usbloader with tinwoo to install xci/nsp. It works very well over usb. Both are available from Github. You will also need the Java runtime environment to use ns-usbloader which you can get for free from the oracle website. All you do is start up ns-usbloader on your pc...

It is formatted in FAT32 and also has a emuMMC partition. I have a theory though... When I took my switch off the dock after playing some games, I turned it off. I took it over to my computer and when I plugged in the USB cable, it turned on. Either by me bumping the power button by accident (I...

This is the guide I followed just this week. It is very thorough. https://switch.homebrew.guide/gettingstarted/beforestarting.html It covers everything you need to get going from setting up your sd card to backing up your nand to installing atmosphere. I would say your first step is back up...

Hacking SWITCH NOOB PARADISE - Ask questions here

Well... I thought I was done. Turns out I have a new problem! I powered down my switch to copy some ROMs over for retroarch, and when I rebooted all of my games that I installed yesterday are now showing as 0MB and will not launch. It's like my sd card "rolled back" to 24 hours ago. I'm ok to...

    Homebrew RetroArch Switch

I think I've found the problem. These rom sets are merged. So for example one 7z archive has like 4-5 versions of the game (pal/ntsc/english/1.0/1.1 etc.) so I think I need to go through each one and extract the version I want. If it was just one file inside the 7 archive it would likely work...

It looks like gsplit is just a simple file splitter. Used to split files of any type. It has nothing specifically to do with anything switch related. My guess is those GSD files are all just split up pieces of whatever file you were trying to make smaller. If you didn't save a copy of your...

Alright looks like everything is working. All of my updates have seemingly installed correctly (irritating that you can't check anywhere if dlc is installed on the switch but oh well I'm sure it worked haha). Thanks so much to everyone who helped! Still have some issues with retroarch but I...

    Homebrew RetroArch Switch

Hey everyone! Did a forum search and it didn't come up with anything so hopefully this hasn't been answered a million times. I got my switch set up yesterday running the latest atmosphere, sig patches, retroarch, I'm also on latest firmware. My sd card is FAT32. My archive bits have been fixed...

Looks like I was missing a driver! Appears to be working now haha. *EDIT* Alright, so the game is installed, but when I try to run it, a wheel spins saying "Checking if the game can be played" and then it complains that I am not connected to the internet, and then the game closes. I installed...

Alright so I'm now trying to use ns-usbloader. When I select files to send to the switch in ns-usbloader, it just says "failed" when I try to send them. Do I need to do something in tinwoo first to get the switch ready for the files? I feel like it must be something simple that I'm missing.
