    Fair assessment, I'm just greedy and figure the price difference is negligible at best, so if I can get it to work, might as well.

    Yeah, I think it's really just finding a utility that creates 4k sectors when you tell it to. What my research turned up is that the non-native 4K drives that use the 512e translation only do it when it's necessary, so really any modern large drive should work if it's formatted correctly.

    Also, I would sincerely appreciate it if anyone in this thread who has one of the larger external drives wouldn't mind hooking it up to a PC and running Crystal Disk Info or something similar to get the actual model of the drive inside enclosure. I think this will help me in my quest to work...

I've done some research and from what I can see, people have fit 3.5" drives in there, so I'm guessing any 2.5" drive will fit regardless of thickness, but...
