AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

You did help, so thanks. I doubt that without you I would find that AGS 40 pin method for AGS-101 LCDs works for those as well (aside fronlight LED power supply) And it works so I'm happy with it

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Actually I have some pressure left, but only if I squeeze AGB really hard, otherwise it's okay. As for grinding: it requires a lot of it. As for main LCD frame I have nearly 1mm left of plastic (I don't have precision tools or skills, It's quite uneven tbh). And I had plastic bar under...

Where do you find a ribbon adapter for the AGS-001?

Looks like mine AGB, at least 1st picture

Maybe i wasted so much time and money and it’s hopeless and i should quit

Probably not. I think shell trimming will be easier, since you need to remove hard glued lcd panelt from metal shielding. Even if do that - frontlight panel and LED sitting in plasting encasing and holding on clips that happen to be on metal backplate, thus removing metal backplate will require...

Maybe i wasted so much time and money and it’s hopeless and i should quit

Ribbons designed for AGS-101 LCDs. But it is possible to connect AGS-001 LCD AGS-001 LCD is thicker than AGS-101, so if you want to put it inside AGB, you will need grind a lot. Or you can place AGB lens on LCD, cut socket to make LCD pass through but with enough room to lens stick to. <- not...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

I connected from CPU leg to AGB REG, and from that connected to the LCD, checked conductivity, and it present from CPU leg all way to LCD, so it's connected. Don't know AGB 40 pin VR1 value sadly

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

I tried with VCOM and REVC - the result was that picture is really dim - near pitch black (No matter potentiometer adjustment). Maybe it skill issue on my part, I genuinely don't know. I wish it is since adding pot and all other stuff look really ugly inside. BUT this one works for me. Run...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Well, using AGS-101 connecting method (https://gbatemp.net/threads/40-pin-gba-with-white-tab-lcd-perfect-solution.448597/) + running frontlight from separate source (not from ribbon) works for me. Looks...well, just as AGS-001 LCD, maybe a lit dimmer, since I run it through 56 Ohm resistor, but...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Well, I tried with REVC only, and picture wasn't right at all. Adjusting VR1 didn't do anything right. Picture was too bright. Best results so far that I had was with AGS-001 panel without frontlight and that method with extra potentiometer, in that case that was basically like stock LCD, minus...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Wow that was fast. Forgot to mention, that I have swapped connector type. Here its scheme that I managed to do, but I ordered a few more, with one that I plan to scalp LCD connector in order to see what below, so that WIP scheme

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

So I decided to implement this guide https://gbatemp.net/threads/40-pin-gba-with-white-tab-lcd-perfect-solution.448597/ towards AGS-001 LCDs, and got some good results, but still no concrete solution. AGS-001 LCD without working frontlight worked flawlessly, but as soon frontlight is connected -...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

This one I recommend that too, since I tore REVC test pin, so yeah, I can tell you that it's really fragile And soldering to CPU leg isn't fun as well.

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

I still researching. I destroyed my ribbon in order to get schematics, so no test for me for time beign Also, even that LCD that was appear to show proper colours is actually off a bit (few black shades is brown). So yeah. I suspect REVC and P2-VEE atm.

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Guess what. Two types of AGS-001 LCD exists. Also, don't remove the back foam, learned the hard way that it's not only for support the LCD inside AGS-001.But hey, now I know that white tab LCDs is made by Sharp. And they see-through. As for brown tab, could be that P2-VEE and REVC difference...

AGS-001 screen in AGB-001, a blast from the past!

Well, from this video evident that not only top left pads bridged together, but there also "SoMeDing" added to the ribbon, on the right side, where additional power for AGS-101 is soldered, adding screenshot for clarity. Also poked mine ribbon with multimeter, also adding those what I found...
