Hacking Uwizard: All-In-One Wii U PC Program

I feel like I need to clear something up, because ideas are getting mixed that are actually very different. There is no such thing as an "illegal file". The concept can't exist, or else large databases and network transfers might get any number of parties arrested just because some copyright...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

I was with you until the last line. If you work there, what you're saying can't be speculation, so you're disqualified. Sorry.

Hacking How long does everyone think until an emulator?

I wasn't implying anything about the difficulty. Just curious how it worked.

Hacking How long does everyone think until an emulator?

I seem to remember reading that Wii U games access hardware functions through libraries provided by the system, rather than directly. Would it be reasonable to guess that an "emulator" running its games would actually just be a PPC interpreter and a set of libraries providing the same...

Game Genie - The Pros and Cons

Ah, we were already on the same page. My bad. I'm not sure if there's anyone on the other side of this debate, but I'll go ahead and ask anyway: Why on Earth would anyone cheat against other players? If you win, the victory is cheap and false, and if you lose you're an even bigger idiot...

Game Genie - The Pros and Cons

I don't like that we use the word "cheat" as a catch-all for changing memory values at runtime. "Mods" are modifications to the game, but we only use the word to mean file modifications, when the majority of "cheats" I use are actually just mods that let you explore parts of the game's behavior...

    Hacking SmashStack not working?

You haven't given us much to go on here. You know one part of the process that isn't working; now you need to eliminate ones that are. Are the Smash Stack files copied completely, and not corrupt? Can you copy regular stage files to/from the card from in-game? Do other games that use the SD...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

No matter the NX's true form, I expect the 3DS to be around for a while, until Nintendo's certain they've got a foodhold. Rather, to push along the transition, the new membership service just acts as a cross-platform eShop account on older devices, so for the 3DS's purposes there is little...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

Clearly. My point was that the image wasn't meant to say anything about the NX aside from it supporting the new membership service, so we shouldn't assume more than that. Nintendo's not dropping us secret messages here. However, as I linked in my previous post, they have made a separate...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

Ah, turns out there was an official translation which calls NX a "hardware system": http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-03-17-nintendo-nx-is-new-hardware-with-a-brand-new-concept So switch the terminology around in my earlier posts. NX is the new handheld, and its "brand-new concept" is...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

If you're talking about this, it says no such thing. This is just a presentation image, probably displayed during a talking point, that summarizes what platforms their new membership service will be available on. The fact that Tablet and PC are on here makes it obvious that there is no further...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

Source? From what I've read Iwata has been very conspicuous about not referring to it as hardware. The term "platform" comes up over and over again, almost like a mantra.

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

Sure, let's throw environment awareness in there as well. If the handheld knows its position and orientation in the room, and has a front-facing camera with head tracking, it can be used as a "window" into a virtual world around the player. That's all software, though. If it's a flagship...

Hardware Baseless Nintendo NX speculation thread

NX will not support virtual reality at launch. Nintendo is too dedicated to maintaining mass appeal to even attempt it, to say nothing of the UX hurdles they'd have to overcome. They market the 3DS as "glasses-free" for a reason.

    Hacking Wii U Piracy Discussion

This guy is living like a king because he made a game that people wanted to pay for. A lot of developers could learn from him.
