I install and update Retroarch using 4TU’s HB App Store and it installed mine in sd:/switch/retroarch_switch.nro so Imhad to make my own forwarder. This doesn’t start any ROMs, it;s just a nice way to start RetroArch w/o having to go through any extra steps.
