People don't quite grasp the concept of a business having an expenditure - the money they make on ads has to balance out with the money they pay creators and the staff, spend on expansion etc. - YouTube has been in the red for most of its existence, but the purpose of the company is not to make a profit, it's to draw customers in to Google's ecosystem, and by extension, Alphabet's.They meant profitable to the owner of YouTube, not content creators.
Idk why everyone is complaining about the ads. with a simple ad blocker you dont get any on the pc and on mobile you just sideload youtube vanced from the xda devs.
No 3rd party app gets access to your details. You log in through Google's own login API. On the non-root version, you log in using microG which is simply an open source re-implementation of Google's user space apps and libraries. It basically Sandboxes your session in apps that use it. Nothing much more than that, especially in this case.I just put up with the ads on mobile. I like being logged into youtube to keep a to watchlist, etc. While I've heard nothing but praise for Vanced, I don't liked the idea of giving 3rd party apps access to my login details. Not just youtube, as a rule in general.
It's a literal game changer, it's like having youtube red but for free (As far as the features/functionality go, you obviously do not get exclusive content with it, not that I care). Would be nice if there was a desktop version, I am sure there is one but perhaps it's a different project/name.what about NewPipe for Android, anyone tried it ?
I tried NewPipe for a couple weeks, but couldn't stand the interface personally - lack of "subscriptions by date" sorting and comfy background play option (you have to manually switch between video and audio mode) are major dealbreakers for me, and it's prone to occasional crashes. I gave up and stuck to Premium subscription, since it's cheap and has YTMusic bundled with it.what about NewPipe for Android, anyone tried it ?
