Yakuza Kiwami 2 to get English release

As announced on SEGA's official Twitch stream today, Yakuza Kiwami 2 will be getting an English localization, less than a year after its initial release in Japan. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of the second game in the series, which originally released in 2006. The game will be a PlayStation 4 exclusive, and will launch on August 28, 2018 for North America and Europe and will cost $49.99. Kiwami 2 uses an updated version of Yakuza 6's engine, which adds upon it with better combat and smoother performance.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is launches in the West on August 28, 2018! Kazuma Kiryu returns in one of the most beloved storylines in the franchise's history, remade in full HD for the PlayStation®4. It's been a full year since Kazuma Kiryu took his leave from the world of the yakuza during the events of Yakuza Kiwami. Fate, however, has other things in mind for the legendary Dragon of Dojima, and Kiryu finds himself back on the front lines of a potential all-out war.

I've got a question, which is the difference between 1+2 HD and Kiwami? The 1st 2 are simple remaster of PS2 versions, but is Kiwami actually a remake of 1st 2 using dragon engine?

Yakuza Kiwami is a remake of the first Yakuza game from PS2 using the same engine Yakuza 0 uses.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a remake of the second Yakuza game from PS2 using the same engine Yakuza 6 uses.

Also, I heard fans of the series recommend playing the games in release order, because even though you could play 0 at the start you will miss many references to later titles.
A side note about Kiwami 2 is that it's pretty lazy remake compared to Kiwami 1, which by the way also cut some content. An entire area from original game has been cut in Kiwami 2, and some locations look worse in comparison even to PS2 game. Some songs from OST are missing too. The best version of the game is probably the HD collection on PS3/Wii U, but sadly no english version was ever released.

You just quoted my entire post, which consists of several pieces of information, I haven't copy pasted this from anywhere, either specify precisely which piece of information you want the source of or search around yourself, I got all this info from around the net, it shouldn't be to hard to find :).

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol

I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
