Xbox shows off a new controller designed to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the original Xbox

November 15, 2001--that's the release date of the original Xbox. Next month will mark the 20th anniversary of the console's launch, and Microsoft has something to celebrate the occasion with. A new Xbox controller and headset have been announced, featuring a special black-and-green translucent design, which is a throwback to the look of the original Xbox Debug Kit. They'll both be releasing on November 15th, with both the headset and controller retailing on the Microsoft Store for $69.99.

Only thing that would have made it even better, imo, is if the front bumpers were the same color green as the rear grips. Like this. Sorry I'm not a Photoshop pro and just did this in MS Paint in 5 minutes. :P

Edit: And colored letters on the YXBA buttons, but I'm not making a new image. lol
if they were gonna do colored face buttons then it would make sense to make LB White and RB completely black as they are what replaced the white and black buttons on the OG xbox controller

Huh, Well I'll be damned.

It's not straight from MS, but its MS licensed so its probably as good as its going to get. That's pretty neat!

I'll be straight, I f***ing love the Hyperkin Duke, got that perfect feel and it's able to connect to the newer stuff just fine, only sad thing is that it's wired, but when you can have that beautiful Duke in your hands again it's not so bad.

Looks just like a regular switch pro controller, must be the illegitimate offspring between a switch pro controller and xbox controller

XBOX 360 controller for the win, still got the PC version.

100% literally every, single, 360 controller I've ever owned has had horrible left stick drift. Some even brand new right out of the factory packaging. Loved the design, but I was incredibly unlucky with 360 controllers. No exaggeration.

Never had that problem and stick drift can be fixed anyway.

And??? There always has to be someone with a "never happened to me" comment. It was a widespread and very well known issue. So it's more like you got very lucky rather than me being very unlucky. Sure, can be fixed if you want to buy the parts to replace. Shouldn't have to. Especially when brand new.

that's not bad looking. I think they also did an xbox original theme on the series s/x, which also looks nice. if I had a series x, I'd probably try to get one of these.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
