"Nintendo fans have made it clear, they want WWE 2K games on their console of choice. And we’re happy to announce that we’re coming back!", or so says the announcement on the official WWE 2K website.

Indeed, this marks the first time in five years that a WWE game has been on a Nintendo platform. The Nintendo Switch version features docked play on television and offers the first portable edition of a WWE game in six years.

To celebrate the good news, WWE 2K18 cover Superstar Seth Rollins appeared in a special video announcing the series’ return to Nintendo platforms and debut on the Nintendo Switch:

Like the other available versions of WWE 2K18, it includes a whole host of new features:

Get ready for eight man matches, a new grapple carry system, new weight detection, thousands of new animations and a massive backstage area. A brand-new rendering engine also gives WWE 2K18 a visual overhaul and will bring the drama of WWE to life like never before.

A new MyCareer experience puts you on the path to greatness as you journey along on the road to WrestleMania. Explore WWE like never before through free-roaming backstage, conversing with WWE Superstars, forming alliances, making enemies, seeking out quests, and strategizing for upcoming matches.

Can your MyPlayer make it to the WWE Hall of Fame? Introducing the all-new Road to Glory. Compete with opponents online to improve your MyPlayer by earning unlockables, boosts and upgrades all while securing your entry into special events that are held alongside real-life WWE special events, such as pay-per-views.

Customize WWE like never before with an even deeper set of customization tools and the new Custom Match option. The robust Creation Suite also offers even more detailed features for Create-a-Superstar, Create-a-Video and Create-an-Arena.

Dominate the ring with tons of your favorite WWE, NXT and legendary Superstars.WWE 2K18 offers the most complete roster of the biggest and brightest WWE and NXT Superstars and Legends to ever grace a WWE ring.

I wanted a Nintendo wrestling game, not the wrestling game that exists on all consoles. They should of made a unique game for Nintendo like they used to years ago, PlayStation had smackdown and N64 had wm2000 and no mercy, much better games. Now it's the same crap smeared across 3 systems

there was a wrestle game with mario characters. Got cancelled cuz it was too violent.

Last time there was a WWE game on Wii (also PSP) it wasn't a port of the PS360 version, it was a crummy conversion of the outdated PS2 engine, just with updated rosters.

Much better would have been the new Firepro. Not pushing the hardware can be beneficial if you bring over some games that don't need hardware to push.

Too violent? should have just made it like now PG WWE.

Am I the only one who wanted this? I love the WWE games lately, and im almost positive that This will be close enough but different enough for me to own this one and a Xbox One version... I don't see the downside at all. Same time, people in general should be happy that a company like 2K is starting to bring over more games to Switch. If Madden and NBA Live come over it would be amazing, even more amazing imo if EA didnt bring Madden, but expanded its NFL Blitz and NBA Jam on Switch. I like NBA Playgrounds, but in all honesty, it wouldn't sell if there was a NBA Jam on Switch...

Have you played the 2k wwe titles? With 2016 they dropped the smackdown play style and bought back the N64 style of play. It was one of the 2k16's highlighted selling points. While the 2k games do have the pro mode or whatever it's called from smackdown, the controls of them are nearly dead-on upgrades of the N64 titles. My problem with WWE games, they are released yearly like real pro sports titles, when infact neither need yearly releases. An update pack for 20-30 maybe. Even then a new sports and wwe only really needs a every 3-4 year release.

Don`t need much computing power to make a good wrestling game.

Played the last 2 iterations and imho McMahon should just ditch these guys and give the franchise back to whoever developed WRESTLEMANIA THE ARCADE GAME.

There's still a chance that 'Fire Pro Wrestling World' can be ported to the Switch. It's on Early Access on Steam right now and worth a look if you're a wrestling game fan.

While some may not like it. It's great to see more games come to the switch, more support means less chance of fizzling out.

I did play 2K16 and didn't notice the play style being like the n64 titles. I skipped 2k17 (first year not buying the game since 1999) because it had no career mode and tons of match types removed, so in future they can add it like it's new when it was already there

It's always been this art style. It's been this way for decades and has a huge fan base. Try it on steam. You might be surprised how fun it is. Don't judge it on graphics, because that's not why the series survived this long, since it first came to SNES.

No other wrestling game has continuously mixed all major factions from USA and Japan, along with MMA fighters under one roof.

@Psionic Roshambo, Yeah, BonziBuddy was both spyware and ad-ware. It collected children's personal information without consent as well as display fake Windows popups.

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.
    +2
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
It's all good no one pays attention to the law anyway lol
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
If someone is in the military they should be allowed to smoke and drink at 18.... Would help drive recruitment lol
