PS1/2 Would it be possible to use an Ethernet to USB Female adapter for booting up games off HDD?

So, I've been thinking about this; would it be possible to use an ethernet to usb female adapter to play games off an HDD?

I've seen several types of types of ethernet to usb female adapters, something like this:

Of course, if this is possible, I would use a wall-powered HDD on the PS2.
