Will I be able to play psx games smoothly on old 3ds with some overclocking?

I want to play some PSX games using retroarch for 3DS, but I have an "old" 3DS and the games I tested did run poorly.

And no, I won't just buy a new 3DS, not since I still have my old 3DS working.

U can't overclock an old 3ds

The best thing I could think of would be to get your PSX fix on console, or look into hardware upgrades I don't know how much either will help you though. It's a frustrating feeling.
