You can't sell your Wii when you get a PC emu cause it would be ILLEGAL to play roms then
Weeelll... Either
a) it's always illegal to play ROMs, and nothing would change; or
b) It would still be legal, because those are your "backups", of games you legally own.
Wii emulator? Hmmm...
The Wii
is only 800MHz + 400 MHz, 128MB RAM, not much else, while current PCs are 3.6 GHz with 1GB RAM, with video cards faster (and with more memory) than last gen consoles. That means 4 CPU cycles per one Wii instruction cycle, with memory to spare. If only they could find a way to parse instructions to determine which tasks go to the graphics card, and which to the CPU itself... Promising, isn't it?
Well, no. Really, no. Not so soon. Nope. No wei. No. Ain't happenin'. Yet. You can quote me on that, you know. When one day, in a couple of months, an emulator comes out, you can quote me and say, "Look at the naysayer. LOL."
Well, many a core will be added to our CPUs, and many a gig of disk will we add to our boxes before an emulator gets here. In the meantime, Wiiiiiiii!!!
As for the day it happens... No. I'm not selling my Wii. My TV is bigger than my monitor, my PC sucks down 500 W of power to have it running, compared to 20 W the Wii uses; my PC weighs a ton. The Wii weighs two pounds. Wiimote included. I'm keeping my Wii.
And once Wii modders find a way to completely replace the DVD drive with flash memory, it's gonna make the Wii so small, it'll fit inside a cigarette box. No point in powering up a PC to play, when you can power up a cigarette box X)
