Star Fox Adventures, I like that game. Some sentimental value as it was the first Gamecube game I played, it was bundled with the Gamecube we got in mid 2003. Over 10 years later I learned about the story behind it, that it wasn't originally meant to be a Star Fox game, Rare basically slapped Fox and crew in, I guess to boost interest, ultimately it didn't pan out and not long after they were obtained by Microsoft, sadly. I always thought of Rare and Nintendo as husband and wife, divorced and the newer spouse is a bitch, in this case Microsoft (though I haven't played it, just looking at the Banjo Kazooie game they made caused my blood to boil). One infamous part about SFA as a kid was the test of strength thing. First one where you have to mash the A button and beat some buff reptile. Me and my sisters always struggled at that, only one time where I went to my best friend at the time's house, I used his back for support, a table if you will, where the controller would be placed, and I just mashed that A button like my life depended on it. We conquered, finally able to finish the rest of the game. Now that challenge is easy, just add an index finger with the thumb and change the mashing process. Also, this was my first Fox game, so my interpretation was that the series had no established form of gameplay, instead changing it up every iteration. Of course now that's not the case, the series is mainly a space shooter game. I played SF64, great game, so I got the more traditional SF experience later in time. Still, I like SFA. Tricky was an annoying brat, but the dialogue in the game overall was funny, the combat was very limited but fun, more space shooting would've been nice, I remember the dialogue a good deal. "I've been looking forward to this day, to see you again, Fox McCloud" - Andross.

Good times. I'd have more to say if it came to movies, but I think SFA's the only example I got in that topic. Oh, someone mentioned Sonic Heroes. I like that game. Shadow the Hedgehog I guess has gotten flak, that also popped to my mind, I like that too. Even moreso now learning that the voice of Goku in the Funimation dub of Dragon Ball Z (and Super, can't wait!) did the voice of the main bad guy in that. Sean Schemmel, he also voiced Lucario in the pokemon movie starring him, and in the Smash Bros games, awesome. Oh, Brawl, not the most popular Smash game, but I don't think people universally dislike it. Regardless, I love the game, hate the bullshit pratfalls, but I still love it. In general, about Sonic, the 3D 21st century ones I've played, I liked, most of them haven't been rated highly. Note, these are the ones I played: Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on GC, Sonic Heroes on GC, Shadow the Hedgehog on GC, Sonic Adventure DX on GC, just an upgraded version of the original SA, Secret Rings, Unleashed on Wii, I played a bit of Black Knight and liked it. Those are all good, most of them not rated highly. I haven't played the more notorious ones, and I don't want to: Sonic Boom and 06 for example. Poor Sonic though.

I hate ATLUS's games (Persona and Shin Megami Tensei sagas the most)
People seems to love them though
this

I dislike very weeb games (now just wait) that rely on their fan service. Like any game that or show/anime that rely too much on fanservice. But weebs seem to eat that shit up.

I hate online multiplayer much like @Depravo does.
Single player with an immense story is still the way a game should be.
Not some dumb maps with no story aka Titanfall/Destiny/Overwatch etc.

Fuck online multiplayer.

Minecraft. This thing is still very popular, it populated internet, toys and libraries (seriously, minecraft stories are selling).
I. Hate. This. Game. So. Much.

And yet it is still insanely loved by so many people. It did not appeal me, at all, in 2010, and I just hate it more and more when I see kiddos (14-18) praising it as the best game ever, and yet don't know their classics.

B-But Brawl is soooo SLOOOWWW
And other M is so much a soap opera

/s
Those games are great :)
I like thes games for the presentation. Metroid other M was co developed by the people who made ninja gaiden so popular, the presentation and graphics are nice, the story maybe not many like, people also may not like the "Don't use your abilities until authorized" But then again, so did metroid fusion, i don't hear people saying bad stuff about that game, is the same pacing and everything. I like watching the cutscenes and when you watch it all at once like a video or movie, they add gameplay clips to least fill the transaction instead of just only cutscenes. All of that is on a Dual layered DVD disk making it one of the largest games on the system compared to super smash bros and xenoblade chronicles that also have Dual layered dvd being over 6GB.:ninja:

Super smash bros has great presentation, it has more game modes and stuff to do than any other in the series. Boss rush, FULL FLEDGE STORY ADVENTURE MODE, Stickers, collectable trophies, mini games, co-op event matches, SOLID SNAKE, and a final boss that isn't master hand and crazy hands. It has lots to offer, including the unlocking music, achicevements and the VC games which if you had code can freeze the time limit and play through fully. I know the game play isn't like melee and the random tripping was unnecessary but you have to admit the content and presentation is glorified and up to a ninitendo quality standard. The wii u game maybe fixed most of the game play issues but it still lacks content that i had expected from a upgrade. I appreciate the new characters, but they took some out and remade them dlc, and that was disappointing. But most of the single player game modes are gone. Still is a great game, and lasted for the initial MSRP of $50 for over 4 years. :)

Also i like to point out sonic heroes and shadow the hedgehog as well.

I like Sonic Heroes. Never understood why it's so disliked. It has a nice sense of speed and beating up bots with knuckles is loads more fun than playing hide and seek with rocks.

I dislike Xenoblade Chronices. I liked the big, epic world presented in that game and I really wanted to like it, but the gameplay is just... ugh. Pacing feels so bad and it sometimes takes forever to get something done. Also, I don't dislike Metroid Prime games but I don't think they're as fun as I'd think I would. The atmosphere is great but the gameplay is slow and uninteresting.

Fire Emblem is a bit "meh" for me
Well that's understandable. I like them a lot but it's not quite something anyone would enjoy.

I quite dislike Strategy/Tactical RPGs (Fire Emblem comes to mind). Honestly, I just find them boring, yet I'm a big fan of traditional turn-based RPGs. Go figure.

Skyward Sword is my favourite 3D Zelda after OoT & MM. I dislike motion controls and similar gimmicks as much as anyone else, but I found them in SS to work incredibly well. Also, I found Sonic Adventure 2 to be a good game (oddly the only 3D Sonic I've ever enjoyed though).

I dislike very weeb games (now just wait) that rely on their fan service. Like any game that or show/anime that rely too much on fanservice. But weebs seem to eat that shit up.
Same here.

One of my personal favorite games is The Sims 2 on the DS. I just found the game really fun and an interesting take on the Sims series. Instead of trying to port a game like Sims to DS, they went with something different.
Everyone else seems to hate the game.
I also love Sonic Heroes for the GC. Sure it would have nice to have the Chao Garden, but I enjoyed the game nonetheless.

I dislike Monster Hunter; the endless amounts of fighting what feels like the same damage sponge over and over is far too repetitive for my tastes. I can clearly see why people like it though, but it's not my type of game at all. Modern-day Paper Mario games also come to mind as things that I detest, with no reason to battle other than some "quirky" Treehouse Nintendo dialogue. Big whoop.

DRPGs, as in, first person dungeon RPGs I find hard to play, Etrian Odyssey and Persona Q included.

I found Ocarina of Time to be a bit boring, with the world being too big for it's own good. Yawn.

Portal, whether it was the low FOV, or what, gave me a massive headache each time I played, and I don't understand the appeal.

The Uncharted series is lovely eye-candy, and has some fantastic places to explore in its favor, but the shooting segments and mind numbingly uninteresting. It's not a tactical cover shooter like the Gears series, it's not a fun shooter, it's just attack-the-bullet-sponge-sim.

I enjoy Sonic Heroes and Super Mario Sunshine, which were highly disliked upon release, but it seems they've become beloved as the years have worn on. Super Paper Mario as well.

Tomodachi Collection/Life, they shouldn't be that hated considering it got legit cias bundles but it's rather unpopular between my online friends and the local streetpassers...

As for Pokemon it went downhill since the GBA, only since gen 5 I stopped buying them at/near launch (493 is well more than enough for me, though I gave a try at Y, OR, and B2 in that order and they weren't that bad) but S/M, man, they're interactive movies I just can't stand (even my currently favorite game, Xenoblade 1, has that problem near the end of the story - but you can skip everything)

The Sims 2 on the DS
Man, an ex loaned that to me in middle school, it was a pretty good game although a little bit short even with the artificial delays (except for the final boss which I never managed to beat... those 1-hit kill aliens on the roof)

Ye, it was Sims in name only, but what about all the Mario sport games and minor Pokemon spinoffs? :)

Games I love:
  • The Legend of Zelda 2: Adventure of Link (NES. I grew up with this one, we only had the first game for a short while before we lent it out to a family friend and it was gone).
  • Final Fantasy 8 (PC/PSX. liked the setting and story.)
  • Final Fantasy 13 (PS3. It was fun to play, and I like the encyclopedia).
Games I don't like:

  • Pokémon gen 3 and forward. (I grow bored with the first hours)
  • Online multiplayer games.
  • Most survival horror games (I want to be able to kill my enemies, want to save how many times I want. Silent Hill 1-4 are some of my favorite games though).
Those are the ones I can think of right now. There are tons more though.

I don't get the hate for online games? I understand that there's a better camaraderie when people play together on the couch, but there's a lot of fun to be had with calling someone and playing over voice chat. At least, that's just my opinion.

  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
