Sorry, but I haven't watched the video. Is there more at stake than him having trouble accepting the fact that he can't play fortnite anymore?

From what I gather, his income is fine (Christ... He has made more money than me, and I'm twice his age). His fans will probably abandon him at one point (the fate of most internet celebrities), but it's not like his life is over at this point.

I think the main reasons this event has affected him are reduced income, can't play Fortnite anymore, a good portion of his fanbase turning on him and an embarrassing apology video of him online. His life isn't over, but one bad decision has had some pretty big consequences for him and he's still just 17. I also covet his income.

Oh, right... If we're going THAT route, I can name some more reasons why he should be let off the hook :
-his respect for the fortnite developers has taken a nosedive
-he got his teammate (ninja) make a flat out case for class justice (I wish I was making that one up)
-perhaps his school studies might be useful one day
-nobody respects his efforts to actually find and install an aimbot
-he's getting mocked on social media sites like GBATemp.net (true story! )

Incidentally, I just robbed a bank. To my own surprise, the bank directors want to prosecute me after getting caught despite the following :
-i gave everything back upon request, despite the huge negative impact on my net worth
-I posted this embarrassing YouTube video from jail apologizing for what I did
-prison will have a huge impact on my future prospects

Hardware ID's are something quite easy and hella effective
"We" had problems with hackers in "Renegade X" then hardware ID's were introduced (since, you know, you're installing a program onto your pc) and that was a thing from the past.
It won't stop someone who knows how to avoid them (which is also easy), but it'll filter out a good 80 to 90% (depending on player base size).

Now here's an idea, don't be a total douche canoe and cheat online. Either get legitimately good at a game, or get a hobby that actually uses more of your brain cells.

If we go down the path of analogies, we can just as easily go the other direction. My analogy is better than yours. It is a real example, not hypothetical evidence and draws a parallel from a real sport. These guys should have been treated more harshly than Jarvis because this game was part of an international tournament and they were in their 20's.

Cameron Bancroft cheated in an international cricket match. He used sandpaper to modify the ball before pitching it. The captain and vice-captain were found to be involved. Bancroft was suspended for 9 months while the captain and vice-captain were suspended for 12 months. This costed them money because their sponsors were not happy. They were also publicly disgraced and you can find their apology videos on YouTube.

This augment is not valid either; if you look, you can probably find an example of someone who cheated in a competitive sport once and was banned for life.
