Don't start that one again jaxxster- second hand games, I was stunned when someone first offered such a hypothesis up and had a good giggle.
How it gained traction I will never know (it will probably be one of the list of justifications for the inevitable shotgun rampage however many years from now it occurs) but suffice to say any "damage" being done is entirely made up- repeat me the same argument for any other industry/saleable item (even another copyright led/supported one) and if you can call it justified then let us go on.

Sh*t...did the xbox.com Test, and recieved the Error...gosh, this can't be true

. All the verifying of the ISOs and Burns for nothing...stupid Firmware detection! I'm still to scared to turn on my XBox...what should I do now? Unplug my HD, connect to Live, see if I'm banned, and then pull the Ethernetcable, so it can't corrupt my Profile? Would be nice if anyone could tell me...

Guess I have to see what I'm going to do...I'll probably wait for iXtreme LT, wait some weeks to see if it works, and then sell my DSi and banned XBox, to buy myself a new one, and flash it again...

That was the risk I took, still, it hurts...

That will save your profile yes, but only if you never plug the hard drive back into the banned console. Having the hard drive in when you get the initial ban message isn't what corrupts your profile, its the Xbox itself that does this when the profile is loaded. So disconnecting the hard drive and getting the ban message will only save your profile if you don't plug it back into the banned console. Simple as that.

Its all on how microsoft feels, At their headquarters they have a button
that controls your xbox live on your console if they push that button your
banned, they do this every year before christmas to make u go out and buy
another Xbox 360. Its all about profits
That is why Microsofts making money and loosing players to the PS3
sorry but I Had to tell u guys so u can stop assuming on how your Xbox 360 got banned
P.S They are New Drives on the Xbox 360 this christmas so you cant mod it anymore
so dont waste your money on a new xbox 360 go get a ps3 slim its better quieter and a
energy save and sorry to burts u microsoft fans

while ps3 games have more stuff and not rushed and fully completed

finally got banned. took them long enough, i've been playing MW2 patched to wave 3, on live at that for nearly 2 weeks now. oh well time to move onto ps3

Supposedly there's a way to fix your profile from corruption... I'm not sure how it's done, but it requires hex editing with some sort of profile-editing tool.

PS: Ignore Lance. Just report him and move on.

Alright, so I've been banned like the others.

I think someone should edit a quick summary of what your 360 can and cannot do this time around.

The obvious is no LIVE, but what else happens?

By profile, do you mean I can't use this gamertag anymore on a box that isn't banned? I assume all I lose is my achievements and maybe avatar clothes/gamerpics?

You can recover your profile on an unbanned box and it'll work fine. You just can't use it on the banned and then move it to the unbanned as it'll show corrupt.

Whats the use of disabling a HDD to be used on an unbanned console? MS is shooting themselves in the foot with this one. No one is going to buy any new consoles or HDD, just PS3's lol.

Why? Because paying for 360 games will never happen for the majority of us. Most people pirating can never get past the fact that they can burn the game for 1 dollar. What pirate buys the game if its available for essentially free? At lease with PS3 games, they cannot be copied so they are actually worth something. Ontop of that, they usually have much better resale value as well.
