Hacking Updating from to 11.7 to 11.13, anything I need to know?

I've been away from the 3DS hacking scene for a bit over a year now, but I want to update everything so I don't stay in the past. Just to make sure, am I perfectly safe to simply update Luma then perform an official system update, or are there other precautions I should take?

I am aware of the fact that freeShop is dead and I believe Nintendo has not banned anyone for playing .cia-installed games online (except Pokemon Moon before it came out.)
