Ubisoft's games showcase, Ubisoft Forward, is only a few days away but that hasn't stopped leaks from spoiling announcements planned for the digital event. Earlier this week, 30 minutes of Assassin's Creed: Valhalla gameplay footage was leaked and today, details emerged about the next installment in the Far Cry series. The news come from a brief listing on the Hong Kong PlayStation Store earlier today:

From the banner used, we can see Giancarlo Esposito, known for his role of Gus Fring in TV series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul.

A rough translation of the details available from the screenshot reads:

Welcome to Yara, a tropical paradise frozen in time. As the dictator of Yara, Anton Castillo is intent on restoring his nation back to its former glory by any means, with his son, Diego, following in his bloody footsteps. Their ruthless oppression has ignited a revolution.

FIGHT FOR FREEDOM
Play as Dani Rojas, a local Yaran and become a guerrilla fighter to liberate the nation

YARA TORN APART
Fight against Anton's troops in the largest Far Cry playground to date across jungles, beaches and Esperanza the capital city of Yara

GUERRILLA FIREPOWER
Employ makeshift weapons, vehicles, and Amigos, the new Fangs for Hire to burn the tyrannical regime to the ground

The leak also give a release date of February 18, 2021, as well as a free upgrade from the PS4 version to the PS5 one. These details were also corroborated by another image:

While Ubisoft has not yet commented on these leaks, we should learn more on July 12 during their Ubisoft Forward event.

Far Cry's official Twitter account all but confirmed those leaks with its own teaser featuring Giancarlo Esposito and hinting at more details to be revealed on Sunday, July 12.

To be honest with you I think Far Cry 3 had one of the most bests trailers of the whole series. I guess Far Cry 4 comes in second place but I thought the Far Cry series ended because of a Nuke?

I actually really liked Far Cry 5. It wasn't quite as good as Far Cry 3 & 1, but I really enjoyed it.

I know it's a bit odd, but I honestly enjoyed 4 way more than 5 despite its shortcomings. 2 and 3 would have to be my favourites in the series though
