The very same arguments apply to a Switch I do own. Plus kids don't know better, that's why they have adult to make decisions for them. In this case, the parents could still update, they'd know the PIN, I'd have to tell them if they didn't know. My different situation doesn't take away from the argument for all those people who own their own switch. Lots of parents would like to protect their switch from their kids.

Let's say you have a kid and go away from your kid's laptop, you come back and all the sudden everything is a bit off, and now your kid has all these free games, and the reasoning is cause your friend did that so he could play free games on your laptop, filling up space, and risking you to play games that you shouldn't play. Wouldn't you be mad that they tampered with your device that's yours, without permission, not even doing it for you but for theirselves? If yes, then that's basically what you're saying you want to do.

Most of the games that are not the major AAA first party games (botw and odyssey currently) have gone on sale. You just don't know because you never even attempt to check to buy games. And the games that don't go on sale are the ones most have already declared don't fall into the "not worth buying" category. Unless you want to pirate all games now because you don't want to buy any, but that negates previous arguments that its done for games that aren't worth buying.
