Can any retroarch cores use the bottom screen? i know some guy modified bubble's emulators to use only the bottom screen and that'd be a cool option, but.. what about retroarch? possible? has it been done?
It's possible, but has not been done. I always thought it would be cool if you could use both screens for vertical games, or add a couple virtual buttons to the bottom screen, or even a soft keyboard. Since it would only be valuable for 3ds, though, I don't think it's had much attention.
Just moving the top screen on the bottom would be even easier, I think.

How do you get the MAME cores working? What files are you meant to dump where for the BIOS, config etc... as that info is a bit thin on the ground. Rest of the systems work perfectly but none of the MAME ones do and thats quite odd as the ROM set works perfectly on the PSC version of RA.
I have had no problem getting MAME 2003 Plus to work. There’s no bios or other setup required. Just drop the correct rom set in.
Hmm, thats odd as I'm certain that was the first one I tried and it wouldn't load any games (just frozen on a black screen needing hard reset of the n3DS). Do you have a link to the cores you're using please?
I tried a few basic ones, everything freezes at the black screen but the same ROMs worked with FBA. Set also works on the PS Classic flawlessly so think its something to do with the emulator on 3DS as none of the variants of MAME worked.
It seems that the nightlies after the 11/18 one are all missing the PCSX Rearmed CIA. I can't find them in any of the recent nightlies for some reason.
Were you able to find PCSX Rearmed on the latest (post 11/18) nightlies? Because I don't see it in the cores folder

and a 128x256 banner, name it: bluemsx_banner.png

A pull request. As the creator of new changes, you submit your changes for incorporation into the repository via a pull request. Basically, the owner of the repository sees your request, attempts to validate that the changes do not break anything and then pulls the changes in.
@MrHuu I saw your latest pull request. Really great that some of the online update features are finally coming to 3DS. Thanks for the QOL improvements.
Being able to use the online updater is going to save a lot of time manually copying files around.
The option to only update installed cores is also pretty nice.
It's also much easier to offer retroarch through channels like Universal-Updater.
Only needing to serve just one core, from which you can set-up most of retroarch. Except bios files and roms.

I just grabbed the latest nightly build -- this is great! It's going to be a totally different experience having a bunch of cores available, but just installing / updating the ones you actually use.
@justinweiss Any chance you are working on anything else on 3DS retroarch these days (fingers crossed)....

What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted

Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
