I use the term issues as both are annoying but not problematic.

Issue #1:
Scenario: Gaming/using full screen applications on monitor 1(Primary) and watching something on VLC via monitor 2.

Issue: When moving the mouse to the right, the machine percieves the cursor as being moved into the boundaries of monitor 2. This causes VLC to flash the 'control bar' as if you had moved the mouse whilst watch something.

Intended Results:
When a full screen application is running on monitor 1, the machine shouldn't be allowing the cursor to "reach" monitor 2.

Additional Notes:
The full screen application on monitor 1 continues to have uninterrupted use of the mouse, regardless of detection from monitor 2.

Issue #2:
Scenario: Any use of monitor 2 whilst watching something on VLC via monitor 1.

Issue: Use of the mouse (Clicking L/R) on monitor 2 causes the Windows 7 taskbar to flash up on monitor 1 and does not disappear unless focus is given back to VLC via clicking.

Intended Results:
The Windows 7 taskbar should remain "behind" VLC when fullscreen on monitor 1 regardless of activity on monitor 2.

Additional Notes:
This issue continues to occur even if the taskbar is set to auto-hide. However, it does only pop up with a very small amount visible as if it were still hidden but VLC went to the back.

Overall notes:
OS: Windows 7
VLC: 2.1.3 Rincewind

If anyone has any idea what's going on, please give me a heads up.

Anyway, if you need any more details regarding any configuration, just let me know.

Insert usual "pah VLC" line.

Not sure about 2, personally I would probably just drag the task bar down to the bottom of the screen.

On 1 it sounds like the games you play do not have a proper mouse trap/jail/sandbox. This is annoyingly common but there are tools to fix it, http://www.comroestudios.com/CMMT/Doc/Overview.htm and http://www.murgee.com/MurGeeMon/ and lots of other dual/multi monitor tools have such functionality. There are many and I am not sure what the current hotness is but you can certainly get it done for free.

Regarding issue 2: The taskbar is down the bottom already, not entirely sure what you're getting at here. Something must've gotten lost in translation.

I have some extra information for issue 1:
The programs in question seem to trap the mouse every 1/10 executions. What exactly is going on, I'm not sure...

You've provided me with ways to fix the issue, however, I'm more curious as to why it sometimes handles fine and other times not...

I've noticed problem 2 happening to me. From what I've seen, it's got something to do with active desktop rules and how when the primary monitor is no longer the active screen, it will bring the task bar to the front on top of any maximised windows (it would probably happen with fullscreen too, but fullscreen apps tend to get minimised first when switching active desktops, or at least brought out of fullscreen mode).

As for problem 1... My guess is that the mouse does successfully get trapped, but the tail of the mouse still passes over the edge of the screen (normal behaviour) and that's enough to trigger the mouse over for VLC.

I meant drag it down so it is one pixel high and you can't see anything and then drag it back up when you are done.

Also I should mention that on Linux if I go full screen with the window maximised then I get the taskbar still, unmaximise it (even if it is the exact same size) and go full screen and taskbars start behaving properly.

On mouse jails, what Originality said now that I read it properly. Still such things are worth knowing of as Windows multimonitor has never been great. Still on one of those links it mentions putting the monitor up high so there are only a few pixels overlap to get on the other screen. Not an ideal solution for all problems but might help out here.
