Ok so heres how it works in kinda of a short guide

**MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ALL REQUIREMENTS BEFORE DOING THIS**
What you will need:
Vita on firmware 3.60 running henkaku with the IDU app installed and PKG installer bubble.
Pc running QCMA and an FTP cleint Fillzilla works!
PSP with the game installed from PSN with license .rif
PKG for the PS1/VITA games you would like to install

How to make magic happen:

1) make sure you can connect to Qcma and transfer apps to the PC. ("If it prompts for a fw update rebuild the data base in recovery mode then continue")

2)Configure QCMA with a the PKG folder directory and place the .PKG file in that folder.

3)Transfer the license file from the psp to the PC. It is located at "PSP/LICENSE/xxxxx.rif" where xxxx is the game id.

4)Start up henkaku on the vita then launch the IDU app and switch to IDU mode. Then exit and shutdown the vita.

5)Plug the vita into the pc and it should power up on it's own. Now we need to get into temporary CEX mode by holding this key combo for five seconds L + R + D-Pad Up + Start .

6)Star package manager and select Content manager -> PKG file. It will begin to install the package...We are almost done now...

7)Launch Henkaku and go back to the IDU app. Clear IDU mode , exit and reboot.

8)Now launch henkaku and start molecular shell press select. That will place us in FTP MODE with an IP. Connect to the IP with a FTP program on the PC and send the .rif file from the psp to "pspemu/PSP/LICENSE".

9)EXIT AND REBOOT. Enjoy Those lost psn titles that are for some random reason not on PSN.

Big thanks to all who made this possible !!! :D :D :D

Does it work?

What about this utility for PSP PKGs? What if extract PKG and manually put extracted files on Vita. Then edit db files and transfer license from PSP?

There's no real reason to use that, since you can access all PSP packages with Media Go, or manually via a list on Hackinformer (which I can't link).

The method does work, multiple people have reported success with it in that thread you linked. I plan on trying it as soon as I can find my PSP, so I can transfer the Spyro games over.

I tried first method. Installed few demos on PSP, downloaded PKG with Media Go, started installation through QCMA, successfully passed "Expand Package" stage, but failed on "Promoting" stage with error C4-2311-7 (0x80251002) SCE_RTC_ERROR_NOT_INITIALIZED.

P.S. I haven't PS3 or another PSP games(

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
