Why having a WiiU without its gamepad? you can't play most of the games without a controller.
it's like saying you have a Wii with a gamecube controller, but no wiimote.

the easiest is to have everything on vWii, but it's very limited in size (500MB) and can be risky to install pirated wad files, you can brick your vWii.
That's why users prefer using emuNAND feature, it has a brick prevention (you brick the NAND copy, not your console) and you have few GB (if not TB) of available space to install all games at the same time. plus, it's region free and you don't need to patch your system.

follow the guide I wrote that you posted just above.
it tells you what to do to make a NAND copy and install/play games from it.

of course, you'll want to play the incompatible games first (like ALL users?)...
incompatible games, such as castlevania, will require additional setup, with illegal to share files, so I can't tell what to do about it.
just play compatible games, 80% of the VC/Wiiware library is a lot to enjoy.

you can install the incompatible ones to vWii, it shouldn't take up to 500MB, and all the other games using the emuNAND feature.
Personnaly, I think emuNAND is the easiest and safest method. but lot of users don't manage to make it work, for obscure reasons ? (don't use a GPT partition, don't use Ustealth drive unless you installed r52mod)
Creating a rednand on the hd, will I be able tô use nintendont too? It seens a very simple process, unlike creating a rednand on Wii U (Which I didnt). Also, the Castlevania you said is the Castlevania Rebirth, cause I really want to play this game.

yes, that Castlevania rebirth will NOT work with the simple emuNAND mode.
like I said, all people want to play incompatible games first and wonder why emuNAND doesn't work.

You'll have to do more setup, using "Neek" mode.
there are two neek version for vWii :
- Neek (the original) which is legal but has some specific setup required (emuNAND path on root, etc.)
- Neek2o (the updated version) which is illegal to share as it contains nintendo's code in it. that's too bad, as this one has more features like Loader's autoboot integration.
Just follow the vWii neek tutorial, you should find it in the WiiU faq or Wiiu hacking section.

I am trying to play wii backups through USB Loader GX and WiiFlow on the vwii on my wii u. I have tried both after installing cios 249, 250, 251, and 236. The apps load up fine, but when I launch a wii game, the screen turns black and doesn't respond to anything and I have to unplug to turn my system. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!

One more question, I read on Internet about wbfs formatting. Will I be able to play Gc games if I format my vwii dedicated hd in this format?

no, don't use a deprecated format.
You read something which has 10 years.
use FAT32 instead, read updated guides to know about newest compatibility and proper format you should use.

Cyan, or anyone, can you help me? Everything went fine, and I followed the tutorial absolutely. When I got to the loading hdd screen of gxloader, the Wii U got stuck and I had to pull the energy of the Wii U. What is happening? I am using a Wd essentials 1 tb, if it helps. Maybe I did anything wrong about the file 7zip I downloaded on the topic about gxloader? I am 99% sure I did the cios process right... Please, I want to play Wii and NGC games.

is your HDD externally powered or self powered from USB Port? if it's self powered, are you using the Y-cable?
though, it shouldn't freeze, it should only continue loading without detecting the drive.

if it freezes while loading the loader, something is wrong with the loader. try reinstalling the loader's files to your SD maybe.

It is self powered from the USB. When I Tried swapping the order of the Y cable, it said it was searching for the USB device, só that was the wrong order of the cables. When I swapped again, it freezes again. Could be the hdd, or something wrong with the cios? I did heard about people who used another hdds, and the problem was solved. My vwii is okay, because I can play "virtual console" Wii games, and I can play Wii discs on my Wii U.

so, with one Ycable order you have "searching" and with the other it freezes.
would be great to know if you are plugging it correctly, instead of just knowing you tried both options.

did you try launching the loader with NO hdd connected? does it freeze? if it does, it's probably a cIOS problem
if it works, then it's a hdd problem.

you can try this : launch without HDD, go to settings>loader settings>loader's IOS, set value to 58, shutdown the loader.
connect the yCable to get the "searching" setup instead of freeze.
try launching the loader.

I guess you need to recompile HBC, it's open source now.
I don't know if you only need to recompile with the modded libfat or of you have to edit the hbc's sources. I never had a look at it.

I have no clue what any of that means lol i was hoping there was a modded version maybe lol The reason i ask is because for some reason none of the loaders seem to work from sd card anymore and are all giving me errors. I have deleted everything and started again but still having same problem... so i unplugged hdd and plugged it upto laptop and something has created a app folder on hdd so i think its trying to boot from hdd now and i dont know how to change it. Hope that makes sense

the loaders are compatible with Ustealth drives, either launched from HBC or from forwarders.
be sure you have the correct forwarder on vWii (v5.1 fix for USBLoaderGX)
if your drive is not well recognized with USBLoaderGX, you can use IOS58 in loader's settings > loader's IOS.
I can't tell or help for Wiiflow, I rarely used it, sorry.

Thanks thanks thanks. The ios58 worked marvelously. I used the cable the way it froze previously, and it worked. Yeah. I think I will GO play FFVI because of you lol.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Just a question... Becuse I had to change the loaders ios, it means I have any problem in my ios and cios installation?

not necessarily.
it means you are probably using an USB3.0 HDD, and a lot of new HDD require a new method to initialize the drive that current cIOS don't know.
Using the official IOS58 to initialize the drive usually fix this issue.

custom IOSes are using a custom/open source USB driver, not necessarily compatible with nintendo's hardware. IOS from nintendo have better USB drivers, they knows their hardware better ;)

Have a problem with Nintendont. When I launch it, it says v3.397(Wii U), but when I choose Sd or USB, both give me the message: no fat device found, or missing Sd/USB games dir.

update nintendont (and maybe even USBLoaderGX, I don't know which revision you are using, but latest official is 1262 from my signature, latest non official is Greywolf's 1263 you can find it in official thread's first post, download section)
