Denuvo has worked in every other good game it has been a part of. No notice of it in Nier. If Rime has hundreds of thousands more triggers, you have to wonder why it would when other games were just fine with much less.

Well, we can make a pretty good guess why... With how CPY was cracking Denuvo, they have to locate and patch every trigger, though heavy virtualization and obfuscation. I would guess that they assumed more triggers would take longer and increased them to the point of ridiculousness.

I believe baldman does it a bit differently, and that v4 may be a bit weaker after ditching vmprotect. With nothing "new" for Rime and Denuno already cracked in other games, taunting crackers wasn't a great move (it rarely is). Their thoughts about how much longer it would take were clearly wrong. It could be a shoddy implementation, or just people getting more familiar and faster at cracking.
