And also is the tinfoil warning serious? Or is it something that I can just ignore?
The Tinfoil that I know of presents no warning no matter what CFW you use. However I do know of an application named DZ which can install .XCI files. However, these .XCI files are not supported with Kosmos hence the warning. They are supported with ReiNX, SX OS, and Atmosphere with the sweet patches. The reason is because they require ACID patches which are impossible to use in conjunction with Hekate.

Ok I'm just going to ignore the warning. I really appreciate the help though, thanks a lot!

(Repost)

I am getting update nags on my Switch (6.2.0 AMS), after my kid inserted the original cart. Not sure if he connected to WiFi too. But, when I try to reset cache with Recovery Mode it automatically turns on WiFi despite it being in Airplane Mode. The game concerned is Flying Red Hat. I am getting a little frustrated here. I install v1.3 update and it crashes. I uninstalled and reinstall the game and nothing.

(Edit)
Same problem with Kaboom Cousins and Brick: Urban Underground. All other backups work. I have already entering Recovery Mode by long pressing both Volume +, Volume -, and Power On. Then releasing Power On. Then it loads the Recovery Mode, instead of getting 'Delete' I get 'Initialize'. Reboot. And the update nag (Cloud Icon) disappears and reappears because WiFi is still on despite being on Airplane Mode.

So, then I erase User Save Data with both Nintendo Data Management and DevMenu. Uninstalled the game. And reinstalled without any update, system then asks for game update. I install the update and then it crashes on loading.

Bought a colored joycon switch from amazon, it was patched. Just bought a switch with exploit at walmart few days ago. Had the guy at walmart read me serials until one hit green. There were 2 expoitable and one maybe. Seemed as the grey con ones are more likely probably because less popular. They are still out there, and plenty of them. Well the patched tablet is going to mistakenly end up in the walmart ones box when i return it lol. Good Luck

Trying to boot into RCM mode - cant seem to get it using tinfoil and a 3d printed rcm jig, just wanted to confirm, if you short any other pin then required would the device not turn on at all?

(turns on after i remove the jig, while holding it for a while)

I had trouble getting into RCM with a jig. I ended up following this guide and it worked first time

Now For My Nooby Questions:

Hi all. I'm pretty new to the scene. I have a Switch that I bought from eBay that had been bricked. I managed to get it back and am now on 6.2 with 0.8.9 Atmosphere. When I try to play certain games I am getting an error that a software update is needed. So I wanted to ask how I can update my Switch FW without breaking my CFW.

Adding to that, it has been banned from online services. Is there a way I can unban it at all? I saw this tutorial https://gbatemp.net/threads/any-way-to-edit-profile-and-fake-link-account.526255/ but I don't really understand it.

Thank you

Are you doing the bit with the tinfoil on your joycon? Spend some time getting it to the right size. I made sure to count 8 pins once I had the tinfoil in position then I taped it in place and it worked first time. Don't forget to hold the Volume + button when you power on.

I bought my RCM Jig when they first started making them and had it sat in a draw until yesterday because my OG Switch was Patched. Was gutted that it didn't work. If you're using Hekate you will be able to enable AutoRCM which will automatically boot you into RCM Mode but you will need to have a payload injector nearby every time you power off.

Does it just boot normally? Try removing the SD card when you are trying to get RCM

While holding the volume + power on, it does nothing (like it should) but its not popping up on device manager. To add onto this, when i press the power button once it boots normally.

No SD or game card either.

Dont check the switch with the device manager. Use TegraRCM and check if it recognizes the switch in RCM.

Hi ! I'm finnaly setting up on cracking my Switch and I have a few questions :

- Should I use NSP files over XCI, or the other way around ? Does it even matter ?
- Should I worry about installing releases that match my region (EUR), or can I install USA/J games as well ?

If you have SX OS you can also use XCI. All other CFW only support NSP. XCI mustn‘t be installed and are copies of cartridge games. NSP must be installed and are copies of eShop games. NSP are region free afaik, XCI not.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

  • cearp @ cearp:
@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
