I see where the confusion lies. The guide misuses the term "NNID" which is, as you said, only for the Wii U and 3DS. The Switch uses the Nintendo Account system which I can assure you is different than your NNID despite how similar they sound. If I had a GitHub account, I would either open an issue or submit a PR to clarify the wording. Either way, I would still recommend linking an account as certain games will not work without one. One account is sufficient for an entire household provided you're willing to share it with your family.

So after I create a Nintendo Account (just needed for playing local multiplayer games) at what point do I log into that account on my Switch? After I've blocked the Nintendo DNS and done everything else in the switch.homebrew.guide? Won't the DNS block me from signing in?

You can fake link your account on the switch, it will let games think that your profile is linked to a real nintendo account ...
but this would be more for offline playing, for example nes and snes "nintendo online" ... (quoted)

Why tho, just install Retroarch, and have it all...including all titles, all systems(almost), gave saves, screen stretch, overclock, etc. Just saying.:grog:

Did you check to see if the SD card is fake or not? If you have't, you can use FakeFlashTest to test the validity of your card.
I didn't test it. XD I'd be pissed if Sandisk sold me a fake card. Does that mean my prod.keys backup might be useless? Everything else seemed to go fine when I did lockpick except the sd seed vector. Or could this have to do with me reformatting it to fat32 before starting?

True, but there's so many different options for playing games via emulation ...
So I guess different people have different needs :)

Luckily, you don't need to stay signed in. The games only need the account linked not actively signed in. Once you'be linked the account, you are free to use the DNS.

Its possible that your keys are no good if the SD card is fake. And no, it wouldn't have anything to do with the card being FAT32. If anything, there would have been an issue if you were using exFAT as it can corrupt your SD card; FAT32 is the recommended format.

So do I create a nintendo account on the nintendo website on my PC then just link it on the Switch or do I create the account on my Switch? How do I link it without signing in?

I think either method is fine as long as the end result is there being a Nintendo Account linked on your console. I got mine over 2 years ago so forgive me for not being able to remember how I linked mine but the process should be straightforward nonetheless.

It's also worth nothing for people that want to completely stay offline, that they can link their account
without ever actually going online using linkalho ...

I am well aware of Linkalho however I do not regularly recommend it. That is because it is a tool that people should fall back on if they cannot link a Nintendo Account normally whether because they are banned or they risk a ban by doing so. Linking a real Nintendo Account versus a fake is objectively better.

It all depends, if they want to completely stay offline I would say that program would be better as your system then never
has to go online, however if they will be going online in one way or another then of course it's no longer the best choice ...

Thing is most guides have people go online to download something from the eShop so they can immediately use title override once they are in CFW so that option is usually off the table. It also seems silly for someone to want to stay completely offline. Staying offline doesn't prevent bans, it merely delays them which is the same problem with tools such as 90DNS or Incognito. Actually one can argue its worse than risking a ban because bans are not guaranteed therefore you may be able to enjoy some of Nintendo's online services if a ban were to happen versus staying offline forever.

Sure, I was just mentioning that this choice exists :)

And there's absolutely no need to ever go online to get everything working if one wants to,
however like you said no online functions will work if someone choses to stay offline :)

Theoretically if someone does a full nand backup right, and restores it right, they won't get banned,
as I don't know what would really trigger any red flags, but using DNS blocking, well that's different ...

I'm running a test on the SD. I really don't think it's fake or corrupt. I'll try using lockpick again to create another prod.keys file. Assuming the next attempt produces no issues, is it fine that I've already created and loaded EmuMMC?(Didn't actually do anything in it besides making sure I had booted into it)

I know you're supposed to make these backups before doing anything(I got the Nand backups initially fine by the way) so I'm not sure it it would matter for the Prod.keys if it was before or after. And this isn't like a set needed to restore the Nand backup is it?

The keys that you are dumping only change every major firmware update or so. They would not change if they were dumped before or after an eMMC backup. Honestly, the keys are nowhere near as important as the eMMC backup because a complete eMMC backup makes a keys dump almost useless...almost.
