You probably have a 720p tv. The tv is simply downgrading the 1080p from the ps4 to 720p. My tv does the same thing and has the switch at stuck at a Max of 720p. Go look up your tv model online and check and make sure its native resolution is 720p. If your tv has a native resolution of 1080p this is an issue that I haven't heard of until now.

I noticed that when I go to my settings in system menu, I don't have a option for 1080P. Does anyone else have any problems or knowledge of this?
did the TV box said FULL HD or HD READY? this is the first indicator about being 1080p or 720p
my tv is HD READY 720p, but does downscale\support 1080p resolutions

idk but i think that sometimes the HDMI cable restricts resolution, i can't 1080p from my lappy to TV, both of them are 1920x1080 but i only get 720p max on my tv

There's no such thing as a "720p-only" HDMI cable. Either the TV has a broken EDID or your laptop has broken drivers.

One of my friends had that problem (but is max resolution was 480p :( ) on others TVs the switch worked fine at 1080. We research a lot and it was the console not detecting the proper resolution of the tv. It was a compatibility issue, was fixed on the Last update (at least for him)

GerbilSoft knows what he's talking about hence the two likes for his posts, my 2017 Vizio TV has also has a EDID problem with my PS3 where when the PS3 is set to Full Range RGB the TV does not adjust the HDMI Black Level to match the RGB settings from the PS3 (there's no HDMI Black Level setting on my TV).

I've contacted Vizio's support and they've forward my message for the problem with my model to their engineers, I'm just hopeful they can fix the problem with a future firmware update since with the Switch my TV has not problems with Full Range RGB even though it only displays 4:2:2 but accepts 4:4:4 and coverts it before diplaying the image on the TV (same goes for PS4, Full Range gets displayed correctly converted to 4:2:2 which is still better than 4:2:0 or Limited RGB).

Do you have a game like Breath of the Wild suspended? It could be that because Breath of the Wild can't reach 1080p that playing such a game while trying to adjust this setting bottlenecks you so that you don't set it to 1080p and then wonder why your game is only 900p at best.
but 720p is bellow the 900 something p it peaks to, so it would need 1080p

I mean, I have a 720p TCL Roku TV, but it still displays the option "1080p" despite having to downscale it to 720p. That's just my TV though, not sure about other models or brands.

You could try hooking up your TV to your computer and using MonitorInfoView to see the exact resolutions your monitor claims to support. If 1920x1080 isn't reported that could be the reason.

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze

    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
