but you can update with only the cart without going online correct? so there is a theoretical possibility to get to a vulnerable version in the future by updating through the right game?
IE your on lets say 2.0 . vulnerable is version 3.0, current version is 9.73. on arms or whatever there is update 3.0 on the cart -> use the game to get to the right version

Yes you can use a cart to go upwards.

This seems to be a question that was not very well thought out. What do you think the intent of having an update on the cart is? Obviously you can update without going online.

Sorry about the bad english.
I wasnt sure that there was confirmed updates on carts yet, i just read that you need to be on 3.0 to play arms i think it was. and i wasnt sure if they added the complete update on the cart or they just added the information that the console needs to be at least on firmware 3.0 on the cart (update your console to play this game message).

No worries, I'm not sure if the "complete" update is on the cart or not, it may be missing the updated web browser, for instance. But the update will give you what you need to play the game.

Hey everyone,

i got a Switch witch 2.X.X should i update now? Today the Version is 3.0.1. Is this in the future possible to get a homebrew?

No, don't update it. You will have to go to 3.0.1, which is no good for eventual homebrew.

Newbie user here. I'm planning to get a Switch by December of this year along with other stuff. How is 3.0.1 not good for eventual homebrew, at least for most of the forsee-able future?

It rebuilt all the apps which means the dumped console keys are no longer valid. The warning really only applies to devs, though, because once they develop and release an exploit a method for dumping keys will likely go public

I managed to get me the mk8 deluxe files. The .szs files contain the .bfres file as the WiiU version, but the tools can't open them.

They're actually a bit different compared to Wii U's BFRES. Also don't forget that all files are byteswapped to little endian now.

Quietly? What are you talking about? We are already running backups on 3.01, just update and use browserswitchhax to get homebrew but be careful since Nintendo is banning people who modify their system, so you are doing it on your own risk
