Super Smash Bros. Ultimate video - Sakurai presents Hero from Dragon Quest, which releases today

Rather than presenting a trailer, or putting a short video at the end of a Nintendo Direct, the director of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Masahiro Sakurai, has shown off the latest addition to the Smash roster: Hero, from Dragon Quest. There's over 20 minutes of footage from what Sakurai calls a development build of the game, with details on each of the variations of the Dragon Quest heroes from their respective games. In the video, we also learn which tracks from the Dragon Quest franchise will be included.

  • Adventure - Dragon Quest III
  • Fighting Spirits - Dragon Quest III
  • Battle for the Glory - Dragon Quest IV
  • Wagon Wheel's March
  • War Cry
  • Marching through the Fields
  • The Hero Goes Forth with a Determination
  • Unflinchable Courage
These aren't the only additions, either, as mii characters will also receive a few new costumes, based on the series as well. As opposed to the accidental early reveal by Nintendo's Twitter yesterday, Challenger Pack 2: Hero launches today, on the Nintendo eShop.

Arusu? Where that name came from? why not Loto or Erdrick?
According to a reddit post I found, it seems that was the DQ3 hero's name in the SNES remake and the manga sequel.
Granted, that's his Japanese name, so I'm sure that people who are used to the localized one will still be calling him either Loto or Erdrick.

Seeing stuff like Metal Slash instakilling a character using Kaclang and Thwack being in the game brought a gigantic smile to my face.

The character sends very grounded on randomness and luck without feeling unfair, which are staples for the Dragon Quest series - not being entirely sure of what will happen and reacting to it. This is the work of someone who really loves the series as well. Sakurai gets it.

I found the same info about the manga (it's stated in the synopsis that it's a "sequel" insted of an adaptation) but never heared about the changes in the SNES remake (I played some years before the GBC remake). Anyway, ロト (loto/roto) is the title given to the hero and not the name, but I always think is was a nameless character (like the first and second game)

Apparently, the name only shows up in the SNES remake's intro. I suppose that could also explain why it's barely known of in the west (especially with how many versions/ports the game has had so far). That's fair, though at least it rolls off the tongue easier than constantly having to say Warrior of Light or Onion Knight all the time when compared to old FF games. (It's a shame that the latter didn't keep his canon name nor his personality from the 3D remake when used in Dissidia and any other media).

Perhaps they'll also get a proper name someday, who knows.

I was wondering about this update as the game said a new patch would be released within 7 days. that was yesterday. today, I had to exit out of the game, then scan the eshop for updates after hearing it had been released. I haven't played smash bros. much, but I'm lovin' the dlc part of it. :D

Thor from "Pirate Software" said its just better to pirate the game than buy from a keyshop if you care about the devs

devs don't get hit with the chargebacks, the keys are free to generate

there's nothing to charge back because the keys don't cost them money to generate in the first place

If the game has a crack sure

Most these crack sites have dead links anymore or the crack don't even work
  • linuxares @ linuxares:
@The Real Jdbye What don't you get? If someone use a stolen creditcard. Then sell said key on G2A. If I the dev sold the game key, I will get the charge back cost. That's how it works, it doesn't matter if I generate 300 keys if 300 of them are bought with stolen credit cards. I never said it was on Steam, but its the dev that gets hit. There is a ton of stories out there if you google it.
