Stardew Valley multiplayer patch coming early 2018
The breakout hit indie game based upon the Harvest Moon series, Stardew Valley, will finally be getting the long-awaited multiplayer patch early next year. Developer Chucklefish has been helping the lone dev of Stardew, with the process of rewriting over 15,000 lines of code in order to allow for multiplayer to be added to the game. When the multiplayer patch goes live next year, up to four players will be able to play simultaneously with each other, and farm, fish, and even marry NPCs. Player characters will even be able to marry each other, through a new "woo-ing" system that hasn't been fully realized yet. They'll even get their own cabin on the farm, and inventory slots. However, major choices in the game will only be controlled by the main player. Steam/PC users will have the chance to take part in beta testing for the patch this winter as well. Presumably, a console multiplayer patch is planned sometime shortly after the PC release.
