Released last year on PC and consoles, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated has been announced for iOS and Android devices. A new trailer was released to accompany the announcement:

The spongetacular remake of this fan-favorite title will have players battle raging robots with bubble blasting abilities and show the evil Plankton once and for all that the secret formula belongs to no one other than Mr. Krabs himself. Play as SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy and use each one's unique set of skills. Run, bounce, and underpants-bungee-jump through Bikini Bottom and meet countless characters from the beloved television series. The battle is on!

SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated launches on mobile devices on January 21st, priced at $9.99 / €9.99 / £8.99. The title is currently for pre-order on the Apple AppStore and pre-register on Google Play.

It's extremely easy to port Unreal Engine 4 games to mobile and I'm sure THQ wants the extra money. Back in the day all the licensed kid's games were ported to like every system imaginable, and those ports took much more time and money

well, who doesn't want extra money?

bet the controls will be extraordinary stupid so people have the urge to buy the Razer gadget to turn your phone into a controller v:

I am starting to feel like people haven’t really been keeping up with smartphone gaming. Like games getting ported to smartphones aren’t the crappy downgrade they used to be and in most cases you aren’t just limited to touch screen controls. Both Android and iOS can sync with a wide variety of controllers. Seriously, mobile gaming has come a long way.

Is not that people is really unaware of that, is that most ports to mobile suck yes even in 2021.

If this is a decent port with no ads, no microtransactions and reasonable priced, it will be amazing. Sadly 90% of mobile games are crap.

I often find non-free games to be a lot better than free versions. I've been playing a lot of Monster Hunter Story, Dead Cells, and pretty much all of the classic Final Fantasy games on my phone without any real issue and with controller support (except Monster Hunter story, unfortunately.) I also found all of these games cheaper on the App store than if they were on say the Switch, 3DS, or PC. Maybe there's a difference because the App Store and Play Store, I haven't bought games off the Play store for years now, so I could just not be aware of the issues found there. Free games can be a crapshoot but since they are free, I don't really care as much when they issues and tend to just uninstall the worst offenders instead of getting invested in them.
