I updated my GBA Everdrive to the newest firmware that is supposed to resolve the dead battery save issue. My battery has been dead for a few months now. However, none of my games are able to create a new save. Every time I try, and restart the system, the save I made is gone, while all saves from prior to my battery dying are still there and can be loaded just fine.

What am I doing wrong here? The Micro SD card reds and writes just fine, and it is formatted correctly, and i have the correct firmware in the GBASYS folder.

Do I need to take an extra step to make these saves...you know...save?

Oh and I wait a good while after saving to reboot the system. So Its definitely not that I am not giving the save time to do its thing

there's a new everdrive firmware? I haven't updated mine since I got it, because everything appears to work. I don't think the everdrive suffers from the same problem as the ez flash omega where you have to wait after saving to make sure the save is on there. I turn my gba sp off immediately, and it still saves correctly. ;)

is the latest 1.15? I'm not sure how to check the version in the everdrive itself. I just put 1.15 on my system, now I'll try dkc 3. I just loaded up the game, and I'll see what happens when I beat a stage, then save.

is there a way to check the firmware on the device itself? I just updated a few moments ago, and I think it went through as it said "resetting configuration," paused for a moment, then went to the normal selection screen. I tried dkc 3, beat "Squeals on Wheels," a particularly difficult stage with the gba compared with the snes. anyway, it did in fact save for me (went from 8% to 9%), and I just checked to see if the stage was beaten, and it was.

nm, I found it. it's select. then go to device info. it does say 1.15.

I just tried another game that I didn't have a save for: dkc 1. I saved right at the beginning. it did in fact save, even after immediately shutting down the system. the save is present at 0%. lol

Yeah if your battery is working then your saving will have no issues whatsoever. After 1.13 firmware and beyond, once your battery dies, there is supposed to be an alternative saving solution to mitigate the battery being needed to save.

Try taking your battery out and seeing if it saves, if you truly want to test it.
