Running emulators on Vita was possible since a few years now, but only in PSP mode. With @yifan_lu 's recent Rejuvenate hack, finally native Vita homebrew wasn't just a dream anymore. Joining the likes of NESVita, mGBA and Genesis Plus Vita, developer Skogaby has brought us the first port of SNES9x for Vita, already promising to run many games at fullspeed.

Skogaby said:
This emulator runs many games at fullspeed when using 444MHz, and many games will run fullspeed at 333MHz is frame skipping is on.

Features:

333MHz and 444MHz support
Configurable screen size
Configurable controls
Save state support
Frame limiter
Frame skipping
Screenshot support
Configurable vsync
Configurable FPS counter
Configurable sound output

The Rejuvenate hack exploits PSM and was blocked by firmware 3.52.

nice now I just need to install rejuvenate. I have dev for unity already installed just need my license and etc... been a min since I tried messing with my vita.

edit: seems I missed out. I never got psm dev. only for unity. so I guess I'm sol. oh well still have the psp emu's that play the games through patapon 2 and ps1loader via teKen 2 and a jtag for console emulation (snes, nes, sega)

although I'd still love psvita homebrew...

The only requirement for vita homebrew is a firmware below 3.52. Check wololo for tutorials on how to install unity and rejuvenate.

I have tested a few popular games with 444Mhz and sadly none of them run really at 100% speed with no frame skipping. Frame dropped from 60 FPS to 5X FPS occasionally and constant audio crackles were present. 333Mhz is even worse. People who are looking for Android quality performance will be disappointed. But it's still an early build and has a promising future.

everytime I try to run the .velf it starts to load the command prompts. but then eventually returns with an error.

psmdev for unity v1.05
psvita 3.18

hello world homebrew loaded just fine.

anyone else get this error?

(C2-12828-1)

FIXED IT: apparently I had rejuvenate 0.3.1b I updated to 0.3.3b and it loaded.

There is a new release over at wololo. CATSFC Vita. It's based on SNES9x 1.4. It runs games much faster than SNES9x Vita, which s based on SNES9x 1.5. Apparently CATSFC has issues with accuracy. I didn't discover any accuracy issues yet. Anyone care to point out these accuracy issues?

The S-SMP (audio) would be a good thing to check out as far as accuracy; games that rely on heavy audio timing would be Earthworm Jim 2, I believe uses a rudimentary form of audio streaming. I don't know how it works on CATSFC, if it does, but you'll notice with bad S-SMP timing, most sound effects will be nonexistent. Square Enix games are a big offender for inaccuracies too, and sounds effects are very hard to get to sound right. Anything prior to Snes9x 1.52 will use the old audio core before Blargg implemented his cycle-accurate one. Snes9x 1.43 is pretty bad in the accuracy department across all parts of the hardware, it's ridiculously fast, but comes at a cost of lower accuracy.

Can someone talk to the developer of this emulator and tell him to fix the screenshots of the game? Thank you very much. It states that it captures game screens and it does not.

Dude, you are so obnoxious, crying and necrobumping a thread about an outdated emulator. If that emulator doesn't support screenshots like you desperately want us to know, how do you think were the screenshots that you see in the OP made?
